Fred Astaire… Remember him?

You know Fred and Ginger, the amazing dancing duo, right? Very popular. Sometimes I just run into people who have never heard of them at all! It’s sad Really. But anyways, lately I’ve been in a “Fred Kick”. I love pulling out all the old movies I have from RKO pictures. I have most of the films that Fred and Ginger did together. I think I’m missing just 1 movie, Roberta. I’ll have to find that one of these days. Actually I should find out if any of those made it to DVD. That might be something.

Those were the days when they Really made musicals. Singing in the Rain, Swing Time, Music Man, and so on. Man…sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era! I just wish I could have been around to witness those times. Sure, times were tough. But being around at the height of those two—*shakes head*—that would be great.

A while back, I bought a 3CD compilation of the “London Sessions” by Fred Astaire. Basically it broke up the music into eras and were re-mastered onto this CD. There are actually quite a few out there, I happened to get this one from eBay. I paid for it too! $80! Yeah, I Really like Fred Astaire.

Speaking of dancing, I’d like to get Dance Dance Revolution for my PS2, but I can’t seem to find it! I thought they made a PS2 version? I know they have it for the original PSX, but I can’t seem to find that one either. I think it’s time to hit Slackers.

You know, Fred Astaire’s a rather intriguing guy. If you watch the movie Royal Wedding, with Fred Astaire and Jane Powell, you’d have seen something very similar to his real life. Adele Astaire was also a dancer. As a matter of a fact, it was his sister that got Fred into dancing! I don’t remember quite all the details of how exactly it happened, I read his autobiography a Really long time ago. I’m sure if my friend Kate is reading this, she can fill us in with the comments. Interesting life he led Really.

If I had to choose a favourite Fred Astaire movie, I might just have to say Funny Face. Of course, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that I’m a Really big Audrey Hepburn fan.

Ice Age

Just curious if anyone has gone to see this. We were planning on seeing it last saturday, but good thing we didn’t it was sold out on all shows at 5pm! Amazing. I’m not sure if half those people went to go see it for the movie or to see the Episode 2 Preview. I’m just curious to know what people thought.

If you’re wondering about “Attack of the Clones” being bad, apparently Ain’t It Cool didn’t think it was that bad at all. I didn’t read all that much into the article, since it did contain some spoilers, but if you’re curious, you can find it at:
