Miyamoto Musashi

Who is Miyamoto Musashi? Probably one of the most famous of Samurai in Japanese History. Perhaps you heard of A Book of Five Rings? That was written by Musashi in the 17th century. Amazingly (or not so amazingly) enough, it is still used today in common business practices.

Miyamoto Musashi was pretty much an orphan. His mother died shortly after giving birth to him and his father abandoned him shortly thereafter. Musashi was a troubled youth. It is said that he won his first “duel” at the age of thirteen, and went on to become undefeated during his career.

Throughout his life, he had made many accomplishments, one of them being the art of fighting with two swords. Now mind you, it’s not as if no one ever fought with two swords before. It was just unorthodox (at least in my opinion). He went on to perfect this technique, and thus was born Niten-ryu.

There are many stories and sub stories about Musashi. I would recommend reading about his life in the book Musashi by Yoshikawa Eiji. This is perhaps one of my favourite books to read. I’ve read the story at least 10 times. I love it everytime I read it. (Granted I do skip through a lot of it now. Hehe)

The strangest dream…or perhaps I play too many video games.

I had a dream last night…

Nothing profound…

I was part of an elite force going through this one town that was taken over by and evil corporate company. We had eliminated important members of said company, and were in the process of getting extracted. Before we could however, we ran into some resistance! We were shooting as monsters, including zombies.

I remember distinctly getting a couple new guns. They were both desert eagles (of course, as if I’d dream of anything else, hehe) and one was silver. I don’t remember what the other one was like. I distinctly remember these because they were “newer” models. When thrown, they would act as a small grenade.

As we went on to the next mission point, we were overcome by a couple dozen “monsters” and we were firing away. Then I woke up.

I think I play too many video games. LOL

The Friday Five

  1. If you could eat dinner with and “get to know” one famous person (living or dead), who would you choose? David Lynch. Still a big fan of his. Love his work. Would LOVE to spend some time and pick his brain.
  2. Has the death of a famous person ever had an effect on you? Who was it and how did you feel? Hmm. Well I can’t Really say that any one famous person. MLK for one, President Kennedy. To explain that one would require another entry! ;)
  3. If you could BE a famous person for 24 hours, who would you choose? Well! I’d Really love to be John Malkovich for a day. :)
  4. Do people ever tell you that you look like someone famous? Who? No, not Really. I could say something Really bad, but I won’t. :)
  5. Have you ever met anyone famous? Actually I did meet Emmanuel Lewis. Also a soap opera actor from Days of Our Lives. He’s quite gone from the show now, and I can’t recall his name!
