This -or- That?

  1. Is your mouse pad plain or decorated? Well at home I don’t use one because my optical mouse doesn’t like it. So my desk works just fine. :) But at work my mousepad is one i picked up from the Hard Rock in either Vegas or New Orleans…Don’t remember which. :)
  2. Do you own a web cam? Yes or no? Yeap. :)
  3. Which do you do use more often online: email or search? E-mail. I must sift through hundreds of E-mail a day. Literally. :) But that’s cool.
  4. Do you use HTML coding, WYSIWYG editor, or something else to create your web pages? I do straight coding. I tried using one of those WYSIWYG editors. I just couldn’t do it. Progress was very slow. Besides -most- of my pages have background coding doing sneaky stuff in the background like getting all the data from the database so you can see what’s new, etc. :)
  5. Do you forward chain emails? Ack. NEVER. I hate those things.
  6. Do you forward those mushy stories that take 20 minutes to read? Ack. No. If I forward anything it would be something important.
  7. How large is your monitor: 14”, larger, or smaller? Well, if I counted both monitors, does that mean i have a 34” monitor? HA! I wish. 2 17” monitors. :)
  8. Do you have a mouse with a scroller, one with two buttons, one with three? I have a scrolling mouse with “3” buttons. The wheel is a button too. It’s my Double Click. Can’t live without it. :)
  9. Do you listen to music while surfing the web? Yes or no? Sometimes. Usually I have the TV on in the background so I can hear about something new on like TechTV or such. But music, sometimes. :)
  10. How often do you clear your cookies, or cache? I keep my cache down to 1 meg. If I could make it zero I would. Well there are ways, but I’m too lazy. :) As for cookies, I keep those until I decide I need to re-install windows. :) That’s usually a once a month thing. :)

How I like to make Chicken Adobo

What in the world is Chicken Adobo? I’m glad you asked. It’s this Really kick ass dish that I got from the Philippines. I’ve altered it somewhat from what one of my filipino friends showed me, but it’s still the essence of adobo. :)

Chicken Adobo (or “Chicken A-Go-Go” as cybrpunk calls it.:)

Ingredients
4 Potatoes, large peeled (or not peeled)
3 or 4 chicken thighs
3 or 4 chicken drumsticks
1 onion (or 2 suit to taste)
5 cloves of garlic (or more or less :)
~1/4 cup soy sauce
~1/3 cup vinegar
3 tbsp peppercorns
5 cups water (or just enough to fill the pot until the ingredients are immersed)

Put all the ingredients into a large pot. Heat to boiling, let simmer for approximately 3 hours, or until the chicken is very tender. Add more or less vinegar and soy sauce to taste. That’s pretty much it.

Serve on top of rice or in a bowl.

This can also be adapted as a crock pot recipe as well. I have yet to use my crock pot, so I couldn’t tell you how it turns out. But it cannot be much different, and might taste better since it’ll give the chicken and potatoes enough time to soak in all the flavours. :)

You can optionally add other vegetables as well. Chicken Adobo is a very flexible meal. It’s very simple and easy to make.

By the way, I never Really measure anything, so if you want to add more chicken, more potatoes, etc, you should be fine. Just make sure you add/remove according to taste. Especially the vinegar and soy sauce. That much can make or break the dish. :) And beware, if you have any friends that do not like the smell of vinegar, this will kill them. :) Don’t invite them over for this meal.

If you decide to make this, let me know, I’d love to hear how it came out!

Friday Five

I’m late in posting this I bet. ;)

  1. What’s your favorite TV show and why? Unfortunately, there’s a lack of good tv shows on nowadays. But if I had to choose just one, I would probably choose Friends. Although even that has been rather unsatisfying. I have discovered Six Feet Under, but I’m not sure I consider that a “normal” TV Show since it’s only on HBO, and I won’t get to watch it after my free week of HBO goes away. :( But for “all-time” favourite shows, I would choose Twin Peaks and Northern Exposure. Twin Peaks is by David Lynch, and since I’m a Lynch-fan, anything he does is great. :) Northern Exposure should speak for itself! If you’ve never watched it, I’m sorry, it’s such a great show. Every show ended with me thinking…”Well, now that’s interesting.” Chris in the morning…Now that’s how I would like to envision myself at times. But then there are parts of me that relate to the Joel. But who am I like the most? Ed. I’m soooo Ed. :) Ed is cool.
  2. Who is your favorite television star? Hmmm. That’s a tough one. Again, if I had to choose just one star…No one comes to mind. :) I don’t know that I have a “favourite” television star. Maybe I’ll just come back to this one. :)
  3. What was your favorite TV show as a child? I don’t remember watching much television as a child. It’s not that I couldn’t, I just don’t recall much of watching TV. Usually I was too busy making trouble somewhere. ;) But I would imagine that it would have to be Anime in general. :) As a child, I lived in Japan, so I got to watch plenty of anime. Of all that, I’d have to say Mobile Suit Gundam. :) Wow, that was a while ago. Whew!
  4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now? Friends. I mean Really. I love the show. But I think they’ve definitely been grasping for ideas. How much more can they squeeze out of it? It’s just kind of upsetting that the show is continuing because each of the actors were paid 1 million per episode or something outrageous like that. I say spread the love and give me 1 million per episode to watch it. :) Oh, and another one! Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Come on. How many times can Buffy die already? Stop the madness! Although I love any vampire show (especially the kindred…I’m still upset they had to cancel that one), I think the days of Buffy oare over. Perhaps they should start thinking about cancelling or just letting Angel take over. Or make another spin off called Willow. :) I love willow. She’s so cool.
  5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season? Greg the Bunny. I know, I just know someone is going to say, “You know, it’s all good, but I don’t think we need to pursue this one.” I hope they don’t cancel it. It just Totally kills me. :)

Addendum added later:

Favourite Star: I can’t make it just one. So I’m going to give a list. :) Lucy Liu. OMG. Yes, Lucy Liu. :) Scott Bakula. He was just great in Quantum Leap and think he’s doing a great job in the new Star Trek. (when I see it. ;) Jennifer Aniston. Well, just because if I was Joey, I would fall in love with her too. :) Alyson Hannigan. I just love her. :) Tony Shalhoub. Thought he was great in Wings, and better in Stark Raving Mad. :) See him in “Life or Something Like it” with Angie Jolie. :) You know it would be so much easier to have chosen Movie stars. :)

Summer 2002 Alaska – Job Application

Oh, how I would love to go on this trip. Summer 2002 Alaska – Job Application One of my dreams is to take pictures of as many places as I possibly can, travelling throughout the world. Imagine the adventure you would have! And the amount of photos! The developing process alone would break me. :) But that’s still what I wish to do. I wish I had the time and money to even consider applying for that job with Phillip. *sigh*

What I do regret however is not taking pictures during my own travels I’ve already been on. I’ve driven across the US 1.5 times. :) Once from NJ to California, and then from California to St. Louis. And on neither occasion did I take one picture. Well, that’s not entirely true. During my trip from NJ to Cali, my friend Michelle and I did take a few pictures, especially at the Grand Canyon, but I’ve lost most (or all) of the pictures I took, and don’t have too many of the pics that Michelle took. I would love to take the trip again someday, but most likely will take a different route.

I’ve been considering (if I ever get the chance to take a long photo trip) a trip from New England, to Washington State, then on to Alaska. I’ve always wanted to photograph Alaska. Perhaps it’s that little bit of Jack London in me that is fascinated by it. (Of course, it could just be all that time spent watching Northern Exposure. Perhaps finding my own “Cecily”.)

Off the topic, if anyone out there watches Northern Exposure… Do you remember that one episode where they “explained” the origins of the name Cecily, Alaska and where the “Roslyn’s Cafe” sign came into existence? I simply LOVED that episode. And of course, that’s another goal I have set, is to get my picture in front of “Roslyn’s Cafe”. :) That one isn’t unrealistic at all. Actually plan on visiting the area sometime within 2 years. (money pending of course.)

But back to the subject. How I would just love to travel and take pictures! An opportunity to travel with Phillip would be a great gift! I believe that he’s done so much for the Photographic community on and off the Internet. His travels with Samantha were simply just entertaining. I loved every word of it. I think I must have spent hours just reading through photo.net. If you’re remotely interested in photography, or just want to see some incredible pictures, I’d recommend visiting that site. You never know, it just might inspire you. :)

CNN.com – ‘Friendly fire’ incident kills 4 Canadian soldiers – April 18, 2002

Ugh. Friendly Fire sucks. Unfortunately it happens a lot. It’s a damn shame. What’s even worse about this one is: “…but certainly my understanding is that there was no hostile activity in the area that would have created this incident.” So… Then why did it happen? It’s Really amazing actually. With all this high tech gadgetry and sophistication, man still can’t see in the dark. Simply amazing.

1000journals

Ok, this has to be one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen! You could spend some serious time at this site.

The basic idea is that there are 1000 journals that are being tracked through their travels, and basically what people do with them. I love this idea. Here’s hoping Kim does start something like this. I would just love to participate. :)
