Friday Live! – Father’s Day Edition

Just a mental note that this is about my adoptive father, not my real father who passed away recently.

  1. What do you call your dad? (Pop, daddy, padre, Bob, etc.) Dad. Pop sometimes, but only when I’m giving him a hard time. :)
  2. What does your dad do for a living? He works for Wawa! My whole family (excluding my mother), has worked for Wawa at some point in time. It’s a super convenience store. :) Anyone in the tri-state area will know exactly what I’m talking about. :)
  3. Is your dad like any TV/Movie dad? If so, who? I would Really have to say that if I had to choose but one, it would be Bill Cosby. Remember the Cosby show? Yeap, that’s my dad. Now if you asked what he looked like, then Sean Connery. :) It’s almost uncanny!
  4. What is a favorite memory of your dad? Oddly enough, I can’t think of any. Most of the time, he is working, so we all Really never got to do any outings or anything. I’m sure there has to be something. LOL I’m sure I’ll think of it later. :)
  5. What is the most important thing your father ever taught you? Oh my, do I have all day? :) Everything practical I learned from my dad. Don’t put your hand in the fire, son, it will burn you. :) I have to say that most all the expression I use now are from him. “Son, you’d make a better door than a window.” :)
  6. What is the funniest Father’s Day gift you remember giving to him? By far, it’s the greeting card that had the father standing in front of a tree of money. The caption read: “Now what am I going to tell the kids?” Because that’s what my dad said soooo much when my sister and I were growing up. “Money doesn’t grow on trees you know”. hehe. He got a good kick out of that one. ;p

Friday Five

  1. How often do you do laundry? At least once a week.
  2. What’s in a typical wash load? Regular clothes, towels. Though towels are a separate load. :)
  3. Front or top loader? Powder or liquid detergent? I have a top loader. Liquid detergent. I never cared for the powder stuff. :)
  4. Do you use fabric softener in the rinse cycle? Sometimes. It all depends on randomness. :) Sometimes I will, sometimes I won’t.
  5. Dryer or clothesline? I’ve never used a clothesline. Something about my clothes being out like that makes me cringe.

This -or- That? (Appliance Edition)

  1. Regular or electric/battery operated toothbrush? Regular toothbrush, though I’m told the electric ones are pretty cool. :)
  2. Shower or bath? Shower. If I had a bigger bathtub, I might consider it, especially for my back. But I don’t. ;p
  3. Automatic dishwasher or hand-wash dishes? I hand wash dishes. I use my dishwasher once in a while just because I understand it doesn’t work so well if you don’t. :)
  4. Paying bills: online or write out checks? Writing checks is the way I do it. Although I don’t have a checking account right now. ;p But I can see using online checks. Though I have no idea how that works. hehe.
  5. Laundromat or your own washer/dryer? My own. I used to do the public washer/dryer thing, and I hated it. Granted, it gave me time to read some of the books I’ve been reading, but still, it gets kinda boring ya know. ;)
  6. Electric or gas stove? Everything in my apartment is electric. I wish I had a gas stove though. *sigh*
  7. Subscribe to magazines/newspapers or buy at newsstand? I like to subscribe, but that’s not always possible. Right now, I have no subscriptions, as they still cost money. I haven’t bought a magazine in ages though. And I don’t buy a paper unless I absolutely have to. :)
  8. Alarm clock…music or buzzer? Both. First I have the buzzer go off, then the radio. Yes, I am strange. If you haven’t figured that out yet, you might be strange too. ;p
  9. Go grocery shopping yourself, or order stuff to be delivered? I did the delivery thing once. Didn’t like it. I like to be able to SEE the food that I buy. I’m Really picky about that. I can’t just buy anything.
  10. On workdays…pack a lunch or eat out? I usually eat out. Which is probably why I’m so poor all the time. I should start packing a lunch. :)

Things are changing…

And I don’t mean just this site. Look around you, the world is changing everyday. Imagine each minute, how all the wonders of the world are passing you by because you are too busy, or you are in a rush. Take a break once in a while. Sit back, contemplate [fill in your own contemplation]. Life is full of wonders Really. If only we could all take a break and just SEE it.

Friday Live! – Summer Edition

  1. What is your favorite summer pastime? Lounging. In the sun, on the boardwalk, at the beach. Of course, I’m nowhere near an ocean right now. ;p
  2. What is a favorite memory involving summer? Wildwood, NJ. I’ve had so much fun there. The boardwalk, the people, the beach, the sun, the babes. ;p I loved it!
  3. What is your favorite summertime food? Drink? I had to think about this, and since I associate summertime with the boardwalk and the shore, I would have to say funnel cakes. But you can have funnel cakes at anytime, so this would have to a combined “food and location” deal. :) Funnel Cakes at the shore. With a good soda. :) Yeah.
  4. Did you attend a summer camp of any kind when you were a kid? What kind? Yes, in Japan, I did go to an American/Japanese summercamp. The idea was to put the two cultures together and just have fun. Every year we would visit a different area of the country. It was Really cool actually. And I met some Really interesting people. :)
  5. What are your plans for this summer? Actually I don’t have any real plans. Since I Really don’t know what a vacation is or actually lack the funds for a vacation Really, I’ve been just thinking that I want to take a short road trip or two and take pictures. I think it will be a lot of fun actually. I might just have to go back to New Orleans. :)

Some observations…

  • I wonder exactly what people think when they visit kim’s site. I think that people usually get the wrong impression. She’s Really such a sweet and very intelligent woman.
  • After watching Call for Help on TechTV today, I wonder exactly how many emails a day Cat gets. I’m sure she reads all of them. (or at least makes an attempt. :)
  • No matter what you think, if you change lanes thinking that lane is going faster, it WILL get slower. Try it, I dare you.
  • Why in the world do parents put their children into Beauty Pageants? How damaging is that to a 3 year old child? Just makes me mad.
  • Hmm I know I had more. If you’ve been around a while, you’ll know I’ll write them later. >:P

Man, I need to move to Hawaii!

I know what you’re thinking, tasty waves, the beach, the sun, etc etc. While those are great things, I just found out about KIKU TV. (yes, I know, I’m slow to find all these things. :)

KIKU TV broadcasts Japanese shows all the time, on broadcast! Eek! I must have this! I know that my mom has satellite but she only gets NHK. Hmm. No thanks. :) I want to get all the good stuff like Fuji TV and TBS. :) One of these days!

This -or- That?

  1. Laptop or desktop computer? I wish I had a laptop! :)
  2. PC or Mac? I have PC, but wish I had a Mac too. :)
  3. DVD or VHS? I have both right now, but sure enough, I use DVD more often, and haven’t bought a VHS movie in a while, let alone any blank tapes!
  4. Cell phone or regular phone? Cell phone only. Because of the high bell costs for having something I can have only at home, and paying for long distance…*shrug* why have that? :)
  5. Satellite or cable TV? Cable. Yay. :)
  6. X-Box or PlayStation? PS2. I’m still not sure if getting an xbox is worth it still. Still on the fence about that though. Especially with the release of broadband for xbox… It appears you have to use their service. What if it’s not available in your area?
  7. Netflix or video store? Video Store. I used to be a netflix customer, but actually I just plain stopped renting DVD’s. So actually right now neither. :)
  8. Wide-screen or regular TV? Regular TV. What am I rich here? ;p
  9. Film or digital camera? Both of course. Hmph. Today I tried to take a pic of an F-15 flying overhead, but I was a bit too slow taking out my camera. Yes, I carry at the very least my digital and Advantix camera at all times. :)
  10. Dial-up or high-speed internet connection? ISDN Not quite Dial up, but not quite high-speed. :) It works.

Perhaps…

Perhaps you’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing. Well, to tell the truth, a whole lot of nothing. :) I have been playing Everquest, though I believe I’m getting to the end of that. It’s just starting to get boring. I guess something should happen quick before something else catches my incredibly short attention span. :)

On a different note, I’ve been downloading Japanese dorama and mp3’s like crazy. LOL. If you’re interested in any Japanese dorama and you can’t watch it on tv (like me) and you’re just too lazy to look for it (because it ain’t easy at first) then let me know. :) I’ll be more than happy to help you out. Of course, my collection is not very vast yet. Yet. :)

I was watching TechTV the other day, and they had the coverage from E3. eek! There were some Really kick-ass things there. Especially the games. :) I’m Really looking forward to Doom III. :) There were a few other games too, mostly console type games that I will probably not play.

It seems the Xbox and the PS2 will pretty much be competing for online network access. I don’t have an Xbox, but I do have a semi-functional PS2. (yes, semi-functional because it will not play my blue CD games. i.e. VF4 and others :() I’m not sure that I’ll even consider getting the network adapter for the PS2 though. It will cost around $40 and I think they mentioned it came with the headset. Hmm. Sounds kinda cool, but not sure if it can possibly surpass what I already have with the computer. :) Good luck to Sony and Microsoft though. We’ll see how that all pans out. :)

This past weekend was hot. Too hot. I had to turn on my AC. I was thinking it was a bit too early, but hey, what can you do. I Really hope that this summer is not some scorchingly hot AZ summer with super humidity. I think I would just have to die then. ;p

I’m thinking about going to see Episode 2 again this week, as long as my friend frees up time to go. I think this time I will be able to pick out things that I probably missed the first time.
