You know, although Cameron Crowe hasn’t written or directed many movies (as far as Hollywood goes), he’s Really managed to have all them be Really great movies. I mean they might not be SUPER blockbuster hits, but they are excellent movies. I mean solid good movies. Two of which I’ve mentioned in this blog at least a few times. :) Say Anything and Almost Famous. Both are great movies. While I was watching the Say Anything DVD, Cameron had mentioned that he knew that his movies were a hit when a fan had come up to John Cusack and said, “You’re Lloyd, Lloyd Dobler right?” He also heard that someone had said something similar to Billy Crudup: “You’re Russell Hammond, right?”
The one thing I do find rather interesting in Almost Famous is the fact that it Totally reflects the young life of Cameron Crowe himself, who grew up in the Rock ‘n Roll scene, and became a writer for Rolling Stone magazine. Man, what an experience it must have been growing up as Cameron Crowe.
In case you’ve never heard of or don’t pay much attention to who directs movies, Cameron Crowe also directed Jerry Maguire, Singles, and Vanilla Sky. The only movie I have to see is Vanilla Sky. I’ve heard that I might like it, but it did seem a little odd when I saw the previews. But it is a Cameron Crowe film after all. :)
