If I had a soundtrack, Vol. 2 would be something like this…

You realize of course, that any person’s life could never fit on one CD volume. So it goes on. :)

01: Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns ‘n Roses
This is probably one of my all-time favourite songs. I guess because it reminds of a time when I was carefree, not a damn worry in world. Midnight runs to the shore, countless hours just talking about stupid shit all night long in diners, and just making mischief and getting in trouble with the cops. Ah, those were the days.

02: All the Small Things – Blink 182
I love this song! It’s so true. I wish this song was all day long. It’s THAT good. Plus it reminds me of the Charlie’s Angel movie with Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.

03: Otherworld – Final Fantasy X
This song rocks! If you’re not familiar with the game Final Fantasy X, then you’ll have no idea what I’m talking about, but this is the song that plays at the first Blitz Ball game. :)

04: Ultra Mega – Powerman 5000
Although I never seem to hear about these guys anymore, I like to listen to their stuff. :) Well, that’s with a lot of groups hehe. This song is just full of adrenaline. And has that “Rob Zombie” sound. :)

05: Hot for Teacher – Van Halen
Ok, this has got to be one of the best songs from 1984. Everyone listened to it, everyone wanted to play it, everyone loved it. Also, videos were pretty popular then too, and well, who didn’t love the video for this song!? :)

06: La Villa Strangiato – Rush
This song is just a myriad of songs in one it seems. It always reminds me of the bugs bunny cartoon with the big furry monster that chases bugs all around the castle. You know the one. Makes me laugh everytime I think of it. heh.

07: It’s the End of the World as we know it (and I feel fine) – R.E.M.
Who in the world could not love this song. Of course, everyone wanted to be able to sing it as well. But how many succeeded? :) I went to see REM in concert, and not even Michael Stipe could sing it right hehe.

08: Skankin’ to the Beat – Fishbone
Say Anything is still one of my favourite movies of all time. I just love this song! :)

09: Spiderwebs – No Doubt
I think I want to marry Gwen. She’s so great! :)

10: Where the Streets have No Name – U2
Do you remember seeing the movie Rattle and Hum? If not, then shame on you. Of course you might not like U2. But if you do, then you should. Anyways, the first half (or more) of the movie was in Black and White. There was a point it faded to black, and you could hear this song starting to play. First the keyboards kicked in, then you could hear The Edge playing the guitar. Then the stage went full colour in bright red, everything lit up and Bono started singing. “I want to run…I want to hide…I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside….I want to reach out and touch the flame…Where the streets have no name…” Man….I LOVED it. It’s like being blind and deaf and suddenly seeing and hearing. Gotta love it.

11/12: I Would Die 4 U/Baby I’m a Star – Prince and the Revolution
These two songs I loved in the movie. If you saw the movie, then you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t seen the movie, check it out.

13: Lady Marmalade – Mya, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim
When I saw Moulin Rouge, at first I wasn’t quite sure what to think. But as I watched, I started loving it! It was weird, dark, and hilarious. Who could ask for anything more? :) Loved the whole Lady Marmalade scene in the movie too. :)

14: Livin’ On a Prayer – Bon Jovi
If I said this song didn’t even remotely remind me of New Jersey I’d be lying of course. Bon Jovi has always been a favourite of mine since I saw them first at Six Flags Great Adventure. This song is so much about New Jersey it’s not even funny. I’ll always be reminded of Jersey and all the fun I had there. Sometimes I Really miss the shore. A lot.

15: A Thousand Miles – Vanessa Carlton
When I heard this song the first time, it was on VH-1. I usually never watch those music channels anymore, you know, because they always have a bunch of stupid shows that I Really don’t care about. But there was a block of videos being shown, and this song Totally caught my ear. I loved the piano and the voice. The song is good too. This song will always remind me of St. Louis in the years to come I’m sure. :)

16: If you Leave – OMD
When Pretty in Pink came out, everyone I knew went to go see it. It’s a classic John Hughes film after all. This song Totally took over the lives of the friends around me. We loved the soundtrack, the songs, the movie, everything. Man… those were the days.

17: Uncle Tom’s Cabin – Warrant
This song just makes me think of all the little stupid adventures my friends and I would make as kids. Everywhere I’d go, I’d think of some small story about “what happened here?” This song particularly makes me think of a trip I made to Coshocton, OH. :) Wow, that weekend went by in a blur. :p Probably a good thing too. hehe. “I know a secret down at Uncle Tom’s Cabin…I know who put the bodies in the wishing well!”

18: That’s Life – David Lee Roth
Ok, this song just about says everything I think. Sometimes you just gotta pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again. If you watched the video, DLR showed quite a bit of footage where he was down. Of course, this song is a remake, but I do like this version. :)

“That’s life…and I can’t deny it. Many times I thought of quitting babe, but my heart wouldn’t buy it…”

If I had a soundtrack, it might go something like this…

01: Running to Stand Still – U2
I’ve always liked this song. It’s a song I love to play on the guitar. Reminds me of the days I lived in Chicago.

02: Frozen – Madonna
When I first heard this song, I thought, Wow, she Really gets it. This song alone summarizes a lot.

03: Don’t Speak – No Doubt
Don’t ever fall in love with your best friend. Of course, in the end it turned out ok for me. We’re not as close as we used to be, but when I have exciting news, I always call her first. :)

04: Bed of Roses – Bon Jovi
Sometimes when you have a long distance love affair, you think it will last forever. But it almost never does. This song reminds me of that.

05: Silent Lucidity – Queensryche
This song reminds me of Chicago. It’s where I first learned to play this song. I remember playing this song on the guitar while my friend Jared sang. OMG it was great. Those were the days. “…The dream is over…Or has it just begun?”

06: Tiny Dancer – Elton John
To tell the truth, I was not so much into this song until I saw the movie Almost Famous. Any regular visitor will know that Cameron Crowe is one of my favourite directors, and Almost Famous is definitely one of the top films I love by him. I’m just reminded of the scene where the band is travelling in the bus listening to this song and getting their spirits lifted. This song always puts a smile on my face.

07: Linger – The Cranberries
I don’t even remember the first time I heard this song. I just know that I love this song!

08: The Child In Us – Enigma
I remember hearing this song, and looking for it for a long time. I thought that it was Enigma, but I couldn’t figure out the title of the song. Finally after listening to many Enigma CD’s, I found it! I simply love this song because it makes me feel…well it’s hard to explain. Maybe if you heard the song, then you can feel it too.

09: Purple Rain – Prince and the Revolution
I still love this song. Even after all these years, this song will bring back memories of my childhoood, long lost loves, and friends of old. This song makes me reflect.

10: What’s this life for – Creed
Creed always makes me think of the days I spent in Japan, for some odd reason or another. I remember wasting the days and nights hanging out with my buddies there. Many nights of “So, what are we going to do now?” Gotta love those days spending a lot of time doing nothing and complaining about it. Then realizing that those were the best days we had.

11: Rain – Madonna
Rain always makes me reminisce. I love to do that. It’s not that I’m disappointed now, or I think I used to have more or less fun back then. I just like to remember all the good times and the bad times. I don’t ever want to forget all the friends I’ve made or all the experiences I had, good or bad, with them.

12: Chances Are – Johnny Mathis
When I was in Japan, one of my friends, Charlie, called me “Johnny” because I just loved to sing this song. Many a night, when we had duty, which meant we would work all day and night, and I’d put this song on the PA system in the clinic and sing. Of course, this made many people cringe and laugh. But you know, I enjoyed it. I always smile when I think of those precious moments.

13: Suteki Da Ne – Rikki
Ok, you probably won’t recognize this song unless you played Final Fantasy X on Playstation 2. This was the “love song” of the game. The story was incredible (or so I thought), and I thought this song was pretty damn good. Yes it’s in Japanese, but I think they may have translated it in the game. Suteki Da Ne basically means “Isn’t it great?”

14: Poisin (Piano Version) – Sorimachi Takashi
Yes, it’s another japanese song. This one is only an instrumental though. This song is from the Japanese Drama Great Teacher Onizuka. I loved this drama! It was about this teacher who did his best to be greatest teacher and helped out his students where he could. If you’ve never seen or heard of this drama, I’d recommend checking it out if you can. It’s well worth it. It taught me a few things I thought I already knew, but didn’t; and it reminded me of things I’d already forgotten about.

15: Bittersweet Symphony – The Verve
Ever since I saw Cruel Intentions, I’ve loved this song. It makes me reflect a bit on myself, and makes me want to improve the things I am not satisifed with. I’ve always thought of this song as a song about me. “…but I’m a million different people from one day to the next…I can change…”

Beginning

The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and go. In one age, called the Blog Age by some, an age yet to come, an age long past, a small wind blew upon a blog called Psychodaisy X. But the wind is not the beginning. For there is no beginning nor end to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning…”

Some of you may recognize the quote from the Wheel of Time series of books by Robert Jordan. For you Wheel of Time readers, I’m sure you’ll know that Crossroads of Twilight is coming soon. January 7, 2003 to be exact. :)

I haven’t written here in a while, partially because I Really don’t have much to write about, partially because I haven’t had an inclination to write about anything, and partially because I just don’t feel like writing.

Work is busy to say the least. It’s pretty hectic. And I don’t expect it to get any slower anytime soon. It’s like a shadow hanging over my head everywhere I go. I’m the only one here for backup should anything go down. Sure, we have others that could restart a server or two. But if something serious should happen… I’m it. It kinda weighs down on you after a while.

You’d think I had more to write about, but Really, other than going to work, coming home, playing Everquest, nothing is going on. Being on call 24/7 does that to you. But hey, it’s my job. I think I need a vacation Really soon.

The world is a crazy place, I tell you. I would be afraid to raise my children in this world right now. I’m sure I’d feel differently if I did have children though.

I know I’ve posted this before, but I like to remind people about things once in a while. So here’s an old photo of the week from photo.net that Really touched me.

Days like today…

For some reason or another, days like today always remind me of Twin Peaks. It’s rainy, kinda cold, but not too cold. There’s just that “rainy” feeling in the air. It makes me think about the pilot episode and the infamous words said by Jack Nance: “She’s dead…wrapped in plastic.”

I know it’s been over 11 years since the series was shown, but I still like to watch it. I’ve got the entire series on VHS. Oddly enough, Twin Peaks was an incredible success in Japan, and they just couldn’t get enough of it. I Really wish I could get the entire series in DVD form, but who knows if that will ever happen.

If you’re not familiar with Twin Peaks (and who would be right?), it’s a short-lived TV series (as are all the series I like) by David Lynch. Basically it’s a murder mystery, with a Lynch-ian twist. i.e. It’s WIERD. :) But also very funny. Perhaps the most noticeable reference is to Coffee. Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) has a deep fascination for “good coffee”. You Really have to watch it to understand. :)

Someday I Really would like to visit Washington State to see the beautiful scenery near Snoqualmie, where they filmed quite a bit of footage from the series.

Yeap. Misty, rainy days definitely remind me of Twin Peaks. :)
