What is real? How do you define real?

In case you’re wondering, the title of this post is from “The Matrix.” Larry Fishburne was great in it. :)

Reva made a great post about bloggies and about comments to your blog. I don’t wanna talk about the bloggies. I wanna talk about commenting from people you have known from real life.

Just want you to know this is a long post. You’ve been warned.

Sometimes, you get people who either stumble upon your blog or have heard about your blog that you know in real life. In my opinion, that’s cool for some people, but not always cool for others. Every person has their own thing. I personally don’t care who reads my blog. Work, friends, family, whatever. It’s nothing I wouldn’t say already to their face, or on the phone. I’ve always felt that MY (and I stress MY) blog is a way of expressing some things that I want to express. Others might not feel that way. And that’s cool.

Everyone’s a critic though. There are always people who are going to have an opinion and aren’t afraid to express it. Real life or on the net, it’s true. I’ll take that criticism. Some I’ll take to heart, and others I’ll just ignore. So be it. You have expressed your opinion. You are entitled to it. I can’t stop someone from expressing their own opinions, since well that would make me a hypocrite for expressing my own right? (We’re all hypocrites, and we all know it anyways.)

Another thing Reva said about comments were how much weight emotionally could you put to one if it didn’t come from someone you knew in real life? I agree with her. She has a good point. But I’m thinking now, and I’ve thought about it for a while, that to some, it would weigh a lot. There is one person I have talked to for what seems like forever. (8 years I think now, actually.) I’ve never met her, but you know, I feel close to her. Even though we haven’t actually seen the other persons “real life” it almost feels like we have. But it’s so true when I say that, in someone’s blog or through chatting, you only see what they want you to see. For each person is different. Many people post every thought. But like many words, these could be taken wrong. So I suppose the question about that is, “How well do you Really think you know someone?” I’d have to say that I have many online friends that I never met in real life, but I would love to. I just think they would be incredibly fun. And if they commented on something about my life or my blog, well, I just might take it to heart. (Most likely I would, I’m a pretty sensitive guy, even though most people don’t see that. If they do, then they know me relatively well.)

Anyone that knows me also knows that I ramble a lot. I will skip from subject to subject. But hey, it’s me. I am me, no more, no less. But I think I’m actually done rambling on about this stuff, since I Really don’t know what the hell I’m talking about!
