The Matrix Reloaded

This includes spoilers! If you have not watched the movie, don’t read on! My overall rating/recommendation: Yes, go see it if you liked the first movie. If you also saw Flight of the Osiris and liked it, you’ll want to see it as well I’m sure. (I did not see it)

I’d have to say that I was not disappointed. I loved it. There were some Really good scenes in there. I’d probably see it again so I could at least assimilate what was going on. I got 90% of it, but there were a few things I thought needed a little more. There was definitely action. Plenty of action, though there were some dry parts. Much like the original Matrix. There were scenes that I thought didn’t Really need to be in there, and many scenes that I thought were Totally missing.

The whole Oracle thing was pretty intense. As well as her “guardian”. That was a Really intriguing scene.

The Keymaker was rather odd I thought. But necessary. I mean they could have come up with a better name for him. But hey, he was a keymaker, what can you do? =)

Another thing I’m still on the edge about is the whole Neo thing. So basically Neo has part of the Matrix “programmed” into him. Because the whole scene with the Architect was a little hard to hear, I couldn’t hear all of it. I figured the gist of it was Neo was an inevitable “virus” to the Matrix and had to be reassimilated into the Matrix in order to make it the way it was. At least that’s one theory. Another theory could very well be that he was actually programmed to do what he did by “exile” programs. Discuss.

Yet another thing was Agent Smith. Who actually isn’t an agent anymore. He had no purpose. I’m still not quite sure how to take this. Basically he’s similar to an “exile”, but goes a bit beyond that. Almost as if he’s not Really part of the Matrix anymore, but he is. He, in my opinion, has become like a Virus created by Neo himself. Hence the ability to reproduce himself. Discuss.

The twins. Are they Really dead? Yeah right. Obviously a backup will be restored of them and made into something even more deadlier in the Revolutions movie. Or perhaps not. Discuss.

Neo and the Sentinels. Ok, so what’s up with that? “I can feel them.” Hmmm. How odd. I suppose if certain “programs” were written into Neo, then yes, he would be essentially a part of the Matrix… A module or whatever you want to call it. Geekspeak. He’s an extension of the Matrix, into the “real world”. Discuss.

So now that Zion is destroyed, will a new Zion be created? Or as the Architect explained, will the human race be wiped out? Yet again. I don’t recall whether or not the Architect actually said which doorway Neo’s predecessors chose. Did he mention that?

Trinity. Ok, I can dig that. Neo did it himself, why not to Trinity. Yes, no matter what he did to save her, she did die. But like in the first movie, it was just words that did not quite explain what fully happens. (The oracle told Trinity that she would fall in love with a dead man and that she would also fall in love with The One. or something to that effect. correct me please.)

Morpheus. Still badass.

I liked the storyline with Link and his family. Loved how it connected to Tank and Dozer. Gave it a bit of continuity from the first movie. Also liked how they mentioned the Osiris. That was good too, even though I didn’t see that. Now I want to see it. Can’t wait for the DVD to come out. All I can say is, if your loved one says to wear that special good luck charm, just do it. It worked for Link, though I’m sorry about his wife. =/

Persephone. What role will she play in the next movie? I have a feeling she may be important later.

There were a few references to other movies as well. I’m sure you can figure them out pretty easy. I liked the operator for Zion, since I loved Minority Report with all the shifting of the virtual stuff. Pretty nice effects.

Highway scene. Totally reference highway car chases. (“You told me never to go on a highway.”) At least that was my impression. And definitely awesome when Agent Johnson (i’m assuming that’s who it was) destroyed that car when jumping on it. Loved that part! The overall action in the Highway Scene was great. Especially the bike chase. That was nice. Loved it.

The Agent Smith reintroduction/Park battle. Was kinda cool, though a bit too “cartoony”. You know what I mean. But still pretty damn cool. Just loved the Lord of the Rings effects. =p

The fact that Neo bled in the Mansion scene was rather disturbing. But probably makes sense. The man can still bleed if he thinks he should be. But if he’s The One, then technically there Really is no need for fights. He should be able to stop them dead in their tracks. Or do “exile” programs in the Matrix have some other type of advantage over him since technically they’re not a part of the Matrix? Discuss.

I’d have to say that I loved the movie. The fact that Neo had predecessors that did the same exact thing as him and that the “prophecy” was indeed invoked by the Matrix… baffles my mind. The Wachowski Brothers did it again, I say. 2 thumbs up!
