A little over a year ago, I started my soundtrack. Because times change, and inevitably our lives take many turns, our taste in music changes or rather, warps into something different. But you know, you still love those songs you used to listen to, and you always remember the times back then when you heard the song for the first time. Perhaps something special happened and you heard that song, and you immediately associate that song to that event. Our lives are full of surprises, highs, lows, and frights. Life is everchanging, and so must the music.
So, if my life had a sountrack, Volume 4 would go something like this…
- Rubberneckin’ – Elvis (remixed by Paul Oakenfold)
I believe this was one of the first songs I ever purchased from the iTunes music store. I remember hearing this version of the song in a commercial, and couldn’t place why it sounded so different, only to realize Paul Oakenfold had remixed this song. I just had to have it then.
- SpyBreak! – Propellerheads
The Matrix Lobby Scene. The bullets. The walls and pedestals just crumbling into pieces. Neo and Trinity killing one guard after the other. All through this scene, nothing quite like great music like this song.
- Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
I remember one day at work, and I found a karaoke version of this song. So Mike and I were singing to it. Something about that day will stick in my head forever. Could have been my horrible singing too.
- Real Emotion – Koda Kumi
If you’ve seen or heard about Final Fantasy X-2, this is the song performed in the Japanese version of the game. This is the same song as in the American Version, but in the American Version, another artist sang it, and the song was translated to english. Very upbeat and catchy song. Since I saw that intro, I’ve been listening to a lot of Koda Kumi.
- A Little Less Conversation – Elvis
This song will always remind me of Meesh. Not quite what you think I bet! ;)
- Three is a magic number – Blind Melon
I loved all the conjunction junction songs! :)
- Hey ya! – Outkast
Ok, this song is just plain addictive. I don’t think I could have listened to this song more. Just makes me think of the time I spent on vacation in Washington. :) “Shake it, Shake it like a polaroid picture…”
- You are my destiny – Paul Anka
I just recently got done watching a Japanese Drama called “Golden Bowl”. You might guess that it was about bowling. Each episode would have a big bowling match, in addition to a lot of drama, Japanese style. :) This song was the opening song for the show. I just love this song!
- Here Without You – 3 Doors Down
I remember making a mix with this song on it for Pam, Shawn’s mom. She told me it reminded her of him. Puts a tear to your eye, let me tell ya.
- 1000 no Kotoba (1000 words) – Koda Kumi
Yet another song from the Final Fantasy X-2 game. They did translate this song as well in the American version, and I actually thought it was pretty damn good. I can’t believe how many countless hours I spent playing that game. And I still have not seen the “perfect” ending.
- Kimi o Sagashiteta (I was looking for you) – CHEMISTRY
This song was the opening song for a Japanese drama called “Wedding Planner”. Yes, envision a 12 part short series of J-Lo’s Wedding planner, except Japanese style. :) I love this song. It conveys in one song how much someone can mean to you. Just when you thought you had it all figured out, someone comes along and you realize you never knew anything at all. But you know that this is right. All your life, you search, and you realize, after all the searching, that you only had to be found. Ah… Love is a many splendored thing, isn’t it?
“All my life, I’ve been searching for someone. And I found that someone in you…”
Enjoy.
