Update: RSS Feed/Email subscription

Ok, so I discovered that someone great had already written an extension that emails the mailing list when an update is made. It’s called UpdateMail and I’m just testing it out right now to see how well it works.

I’m Really just curious to see how it handles custom fields and such, or if it just sends a generic email saying, Hey, the site has been updated, go there.

So forget feedburner, I’m glad I found this extension. As an EE developer, I should know better. If I can dream, I can build it. (wait…that’s Adobe’s tagline isn’t it?)

It’s Monday, June 26th

This monday is not exactly a “monday”, meaning it’s not Really a bad day. Of course, it’s only just begun, so there is potential for plenty of crazy stuff to happen. Of course, for someone in my position, everything that happens is going to happen on a Friday.

Of course, on friday, Aaron Spelling passed away leaving us with great memories of some Really great tv shows and movies. Aaron, thanks for all the great shows! (and the crappy ones too!)

Question of the week #1

Ok, since I have to have something to blog about, I think I’ll just make something like a “Question of the week” thing. That will give me one week to think of a new question, and one week for you, the faithful reader, to come up with an answer.

I think I’ll just kick things off by answering my own question of the week, and then you can feel free to supply your own, or tell me my answer is weak, or supply your own answer AND tell me mine was weak. You can also feel free to suggest a question of the week. This could get interesting.

So here’s the question of the week:

“What’s your kryptonite? What makes you weak in the knees?”

What’s been going on lately

As I’m sure you’re aware, this site has been pretty quiet lately. Unfortunately, I’ve not been working too much on the linklist as of late, since there are other projects that keep popping up constantly. (as well as just too many interesting other things.) Anyways, this is just a reminder that not all is lost, I have not forgot about linklist, I’ve just been trying to gather a lot together and go over a lot of changes to EE. It’s been fun!
On another note, I’ve decided to take my “blog” from myspace and move it all over to hello! yoshi. That’ll be my new “fun” site as I will probably do ridiculous and crazy things there as I cannot here on this blog. (we’re all serious at pd-x eeblog.)

I’m aware of the many feature requests for the next version of linklist and hope to implement most, if not all of them. I’m just contemplating on whether or not I want to rewrite the entire module or just wait for EE 2.0. Still on the fence about that.

I do however want to rewrite the documentation so it is a bit more “official” meaning it will look more along the lines of the normal Expression Engine documentation. In essence, the documentation within the CP will become more of a quick reference, much like the quick reference guide for Expression Engine now. I’ve also contemplated context sensitive help, however that is looking to be much further along than the next version. :) Call that one a work in progress.

Vincent Ferrari Interview on WNBC Today (AOL Cancellation)

The entire experience was bad enough, and when I first heard the recorded conversation with AOL on trying to cancel an account, I just laughed way too much, but I didn’t realize that Vincent would be on WNBC Today with Matt Lauer. I’m guessing this was a big story for everyone out there. For some of us, there’s no surprise here. :P Thankfully, they didn’t play the entire recording, which had some pretty amazing parts in it, especially when the Customer Representative asks for his father.

For those of you that are curious, you can find the original post (and recording) about it here.

Perhaps I’ll never cancel my AOL account!

And so it begins. Again.

Well, since I’ve been getting awful tired of myspace as of late, I’ve decided to set up this domain, since it’s been doing a lot of nothing except sitting around. Basically I just want to blog like I used to, and not have to worry about the crappy myspace stuff. Although this server has been acting up a bit lately.

Hello! Yoshi is now open!

Hello! Yoshi is now open! This is my new blog, since I’ve decided to pretty much leave myspace to everyone else. Figure if I’m going to blog, I should have it on my own server. :)

Server Move

There may have been some serious wackiness going on, as I have moved this site to a different server. Just some preparations going on for something big I’m preparing to do. No, this doesn’t concern Linklist. However, I plan on working a few things out with Linklist soon, and releasing a new version. Exciting stuff!
