Friday’s Feast #102 (week 2)

Participate in Friday’s Feast!

Appetizer

Name one thing nice that you could do for someone else today.

I’ve been doing it. Work on a memorial/dedication website for a friend that has recently passed.

Soup

When was the last time you were frightened by the weather?

Probably way back in 94 when I was stationed in Japan during a typhoon (or hurricane). It got pretty bad, and I was on ambulance duty. Wasn’t a fun time.

Salad

What would you say is the most useful website or blog that you visit?

I think I’ll have to say SlashDot because I’m such a nerd.

Main Course

Who was your favorite singer/group when you were a child?

OMG, who didn’t love Donny and Marie Osmond?

Dessert

Do you have any rituals? If so, what are they?

I’m pretty OCD, so I have quite a bit of rituals I have to do. There’s the sliding glass door one, I keep making sure it’s locked. Lock, push, unlock, lock push. Usually at least 3 times. Crazy I know. I have a right angle issue too. Certain things must be arranged at right angles. Oh, and don’t forget that food can’t touch each other on a plate, except for certain circumstances. That might not be a ritual though, that’s probably just weird.

Thursday Thirteen #49 (week 2)

Thirteen Things about Expression Engine :

1. pMachine staff are the greatest staff I’ve ever worked with.

2. EE is so flexible, I’ve managed to convert just about everything to EE, including an accounting system.

3. Out of the box, ( EE Core ) you could create a weblog, shoutbox, a linklist, a freeform module (login required), a File manager. And much much more!

4. It’s more than blogging software, or even CMS software. It’s pretty much just all-around useful software.

5. The user community is incredibly awesome.

6. The developers are top notch and do some Really great stuff.

7. EE Core is all you’ll ever need for a “blog” site. $99 for the personal license is a small price to pay for the functionality.

8. There is a bit of a learning curve (for most) on how to work templates. But if you can make an MT template you can certainly make an EE template.

9. Did you know? The “p” in pMachine stands for Publishing. (ref: p in pMachine) although some have speculated that the p actually stands for “paul”.

10. Although not related to EE, my totino pizza rolls are in the toaster oven cooking right this moment that I am writing this, and they smell Really good! So EE makes me hungry!

11. With EE, there are things called extensions that can give even greater functionality to EE without the use of plug-ins or modules.

12. If you want to use the EE Forums, you must buy a personal or commercial license. Unfortunately, it won’t work with the EE Core version.

13. EE membership is pretty versatile. Very powerful security features to enable/disable certain functions within the CP. The only functionality I would like is the ability to assign one member more than one member group. Then I think EE membership would be perfect.
