1. Group Blog – great idea. the best way to go. I saw a few group blogs, and thought, “whoa. that’s what I should have done is set up a group blog.” Next year, WDS will most likely be doing that. The only thing that I think blogathon needs is the ability to have multiple sponsors.
2. Lot’s of snacks. Although I have to admit that I ate quite a bit of food. But you know, when you’re sitting there, it helps.
3. Moblogging. Moblogging is the bomb when it comes to blogathon I think. First of all, it’s easy with your phone. (unless you type a long entry.) And it’s kinda fun to see the progress of the 24 hours. My plan next year is to definitely have the first post be a pic of me, and the last post a pic of me. That way there’s a definitely before and after scenario. :)
4. Another thought I had was videoblogging. Perhaps by next year, vlogging will be a lot easier to do (and I mean easy for me.)
5. A plan for the last hours of the blogathon. While the plan of no plan was good for the beginning and middle of the blogathon, at the last few hours of the blogathon, having no plan Really kinda sucked, as you start to lose focus, and well, run out of ideas. So not having a plan is good to start with, but having a plan to end with is good. I’m up for any ideas for next year folks. :P
6. Methods to get sponsors. I need to have them. Prizes were good, and trivia was good. Those were not only fun, but it also gave an opportunity for people to interact with the site. I’ll have to consider these things, and suggestions are always welcome.
7. More audience participation. While entries about interesting facts is good and makes for great content, sometimes, there’s just no audience participation. Comments help quite a bit. And it gives a feeling of “wow, people are actually reading my stupid crap.” My wife said to me the other day, “wow, look you’ve got comments on all your entries.” I beamed and like a dork, i said, “Sweeet!” (think napoleon dynamite)
So there you have it, some of my observations and mental notes to myself about blogathon 2007. You have any suggestions? Comment away!

I deffinatly think a group blog is the way to go. That way you are all there to help each other out in the hard moments.
Snacks is also a good idea, so is putting a film you have seen loads of times in the DVD player (works for me when I have an assignment that I have left and have to do an all nighter).
I plan on doing the blogathon next year – hopefully. I always seem to be working or away when its on.
You seemed to be around for enough of it sarah, so next year, we’ll look forward to doing the entire 24 hours together. :)
Yeah, the problem with the goup blog is that everyone needs to agree on a charity. For me and Jenny, it was a no-brainer…but I imagine if other people were to join us next year (which would really, really, reeeaaaally help), we may end up fighting over a charity and never speaking to eachother again. :P
group blogs ALL the WAY! seriously! this every 30 min stuff is for young people! ;-) lol
Group blogs. GROUP BLOGS.
OMG. Yes. Totally.
I had one last year (2005) with three other people and it was *amazing*. So much easier to post once every two hours. (;
The one I had this year was a big funkified. But it still helped to have Diz and Kyle *spell* me by posting every other post when they were able to be around. (=
Group blogs are definitely nice. Having to post half an hour. If you were in our chat room, all you heard was, “OMG it’s time to post again.” So kudos for anyone who does it by themselves.
Of course, we run into that problem that Wench brings up about the charities. Perhaps if there was a way to have multiple charities per blog, but still that doesn’t seem right either. So agreeing on one charity would definitely be the clencher.
Although I’ll admit, I’m all for the WDS charity…my dad has emphysema, so… But I still would want to blog for the boobies.
The charity last year wasn’t something I really gave input on…
It was kinda . . .
Well. Jenny and the other two were mommies and I said – okay. We can blog for that one. (;
I understood why they wanted to blog for it, so it was fine.
If you have enough people, i think you could do multiple sites. So I could blog on here for my charity, and blog for other group sites, and vice versa, and so on and so on.
Of course I am really crazy too.
That could be interesting. Get into mroe than one group blog.
Actually, that might not be bad at all.
It’d keep you awake, eh? (;
*is a nutter too*
Actually, since my monitor team ALSO had a blog, I was blogging in two places. It wasn’t too bad since we had enough monitors. I had to post there once every three and a half hours. (=
