Friday’s Feast 109 – week 9

Participate in Friday’s Feast!

Appetizer What are some lyrics you have misheard (such as, instead of “Gettin’ Jiggy With It” you heard “Kick a chicken with it”)?

Oh, this one is so easy, because i’m telling you, when I hear that song “Independent Women” by Destiny’s Child, I keep hearing “I farted”, but they’re saying “I’ll buy it”.

Soup What is the worst movie you have ever seen?

I would definitely have to say Bad Taste. It was so horrible that it was good though. And yes folks, that is Peter Jackson of LOTR/King Kong fame.

Salad Using the letters from your favorite number, write a sentence. Example: Tomorrow has Really easy experiences.

Some even viewed every name!

Main Course What was the most interesting news story you have heard this week?

Hmm. You know, I don’t even keep up with news events. So I don’t Really have any news story that would be interesting!

Dessert Which word(s) would you choose to describe your wardrobe?

Useful. Old. Practical. :)

100 Facts in 100 Days – Day 12

12. I’m a Twin Peaks fanatic. I know! The shows long dead, but I’m still fanatic about it. Actually I’m just a big David Lynch fan. I’m actually such a fan, that I’ve been to Snoqualmie and have taken pictures of “Twin Peaks stuff”. I’ll have to show you those pictures later, as they’re on CD, and I don’t Really feel like digging through all my CD’s. (I have a lot of CD’s) But we’ve also stayed at The Salish Lodge and Spa which is what you see in the TV show as “The Great Northern Inn.” The outside of the Salish Lodge is in Twin Peaks. The inside is another location, believe it or not. I have to say though, that the Salish Lodge was heaven! If you ever get a chance (and have the cash!) take a visit. It’s well worth it.

Overheard

(conversation taking place while playing World of Warcraft)

Yoshi : Man, I’m hungry.

Tiggerprr : Me too. Everytime I play this game, I get hungry.

Yoshi : Me too! I wonder why.

Tiggerprr :

Tiggerprr : No, wait. This game doesn’t make me hungry, it’s YOU!

Yoshi : It’s not my fault!

Thursday Thirteen 56 ( week 8 )

Thirteen Favourite Foods of mine

  1. Unagi Donburi Unagi is one of my favourite foods. I
  2. Ramen I’m not talking about the ramen that you buy in a bag either. While I do eat Top Ramen, I only eat it because it’s the cheapest, and not by preference by far! I prefer Sapporo Ichiban Ramen, but at about 1.25 a bag, it gets expensive. But I’m Really talking about the ramen that you eat at the restaurant.  I Seriously miss eating Ramen in Japan. A good bowl of Ramen is almost worth the plane ticket and flight over there. Almost.
  3. Gyoza You know what goes Really well with a good bowl of Ramen? Gyoza. That would be what most people in the US called “pot stickers”. This reminds me. I have to make some. I
  4. Curry Rice I’m not talking about spicy types or Indian curry. I’m talking about the wimpy Japanese Curry that comes in a box. :) Yes, that’s right, the roux comes in a box and you just add it to boiling water (with veggies) and pour it on top of rice. I’m glad we recently had curry rice, because I’d have to make some soon if we hadn’t.
  5. Tonkatsu If there was any food that would go well with Curry Rice, it’s Tonkatsu. Tonkatsu is basically breaded pork loin chops. I
  6. Sushi Of course, I love sushi. I could Really cheat, and list all the different kinds of sushi I like, but I figure it has to be generalized into one item. But my favourite sushi would be: Maguro (Tuna), Hamachi (Yellowtail), Ika (squid), and Ikura (Salmon Roe)
  7. Eggs I
  8. Okonomiyaki I love this. Basically this are “japanese pancakes” but they’re hardly like pancakes at all. Depending on the region you are from or go to in Japan, okonomiyaki can include various foods. Since it’s harder to explain in words, take a visit to this japan-guide.com page to find out more about it. I’m a Hiroshima style okonomiyaki lover, since I lived down there while serving in the military.
  9. Steak Again, I could have listed the different kinds of steak that I love, but generalizing it one category works fine. Some of my favourite ones are: New York Strip, Rib Eye, Delmonico. I’m not very fond of Filet Mignon, although I’m just not sure why.
  10. Kimchi If there was ever a I Kimchi. I love this as a side dish, and as a dish even with rice! If you’re into spicy foods and haven’t tried Kimchi, you need to.
  11. Lasagna When I’m feeling like I’m hungry, and want something filling, lasagna fills that role very, very well. I’m a lasagna freak, and I’ve even managed to master the art of making the fastest lasagna ever! Well, ok, not the fastest ever, but pretty fast!
  12. Pizza I don’t think I could have made it through my twenties without the aid of Pizza. Enough said about that!
  13. Hoagies OMG, I’m not talking about subway either. I’m talking about Hoagies. From the tri-state area. Specifically, from Wawa. Everytime I fly into NJ, no matter what time it is, my parents know the first stop after picking me up from the airport is Wawa. They know that I’m wanting to get that Classic Roast Beef Hoagie. That’s right folks. Hoagies. If you’ve never tasted a hoagie, you need to.

100 Facts in 100 Days – Day 11

11. I have not smoked since November of 2005. So one day, I got severely sick, and went from smoking 1 pack a day to no cigarettes in a day. I just couldn’t smoke anymore, and I just never picked the habit back up. I do want to state however, that there have been many times when I’ve wanted to smoke, especially in the past couple months, however, this is where my absent-mindedness comes in handy. I just forget that I wanted a smoke. Simple huh?

But everyone assures me that I’ve just added years to my life. But, I’m not sure if I’ll truly miss pooping all over myself. I mean Really.

Going Pink

While this is a relatively early notification, this will give plenty of people time to get things set up. As you may or may not know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and is also time for the Boobiethon. This year however, Matthew is opening up Pink for October also! The idea is relatively simple, you can consider redesigning your site for the month of October, to pink.

For those of you who stuck through Blogathon 2006 with me already know that I was blogging for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and that I already have a pink layout. So for the whole month of October, to help raise dollars and donations for Breast Cancer Awareness, I’ll be converting this blog back to the pink, and will be again “blogging for a cure.”

I hope you all can contribute or at least think about a ribbon or the link to the Pink for October site. Together, we can find a cure!

Overheard

Parents (who are meeting Joey for the first time and are practicing Catholics): So Joey, what religion are you?

Joey: Who me? Oh, I’m pagan.

Parents:

Joey (whispered to friend): Dude, did I say something wrong?

Why do you blog?

I sit here tonight, illuminated by a small lamp, and the glow of my laptop screen, thinking to myself, “why do I blog?” Interesting question, don’t you think? Honestly, I’m not quite sure anymore. I guess I’m rather curious to know what other people’s answer to this question is. Call it curiosity. For me, I think we’ll have to take the time machine way back to the beginning…

In the beginning, I remember that I just wanted to have one place where I could put down links and tell people about them. I guess I would have to say that that’s pretty much how weblogs Really started. It was a central place where folks like me could share what we’ve seen around the web and come back to it later because we remembered that we visited a site, but couldn’t remember exactly what the address was.

Then of course, I guess I thought people might be interested in knowing just what I had for dinner that day. Of course, in retrospect, I guess this could have been a way for me to remind myself what I had for dinner that day too.

But Seriously, why do I blog nowadays?

Perhaps it is indeed an egotistical thing, where the universe does indeed revolve around my life, and it’s so tragic, and it’s so happy and it’s so drama. But alas, no, my life is not the focal part of the universe and unfortunately, what I had for lunch does not impact what people are going to do for dinner.

So wait. what was the question again? Oh yeah. Why do I blog?

I guess I blog because it’s an outlet. It’s a place where I can talk about things, or share interesting (or not so interesting!) stories that happened to me, or perhaps just because I want to chronicle my life. But if this is a record of my life, then, there’s quite a bit missing.

I can’t possibly talk about every thought, every emotion, everything that I do, everything I eat, drink, or whatever. If that were true, then this site would be a bunch of nonsense. Which, more often than not, is the case.

So what about you? Why do you blog?

Curious minds want to know. Really.

100 Facts in 100 Days – Day 10

10. I used to be a World of Warcraft addict. When I got accepted into the beta, it was a fun thing. I played quite a bit. I played so much, that when the game came out, I was already beginning to get bored. Because I already played so much, I think that’s why I was able to make level 60 so fast. After making level 60 for second player, I Really got bored. I know I should’ve just leveled the rest of my players, but WoW was already boring me, and I was looking for newer and greater adventures.

Let’s not forget the amount of aggravation I had with other players in the game. For any EverQuest Prexus players, you’ll understand when one of my friends asked me if it was as bad as LOIO (Lake of Ill Omen) in EQ. I told him that every zone was LOIO in WoW. It’s just insane the amount of immaturity in the game. But what can you expect from a game played predominantly by teenagers. However, that discussion is for a Totally different post.

100 Facts in 100 Days – Day 9

9. I’m a night owl. I stay up late all the time. I’ve even been accused of being a vampire, because a) I wear sunglasses “all the time” (close, but not all the time) and b) I’m always awake all night long. While I suppose the conclusion that I am a vampire could be drawn from such assumptions, I am not a vampire. In fact, I would never want to become a vampire. Drink blood for the rest of my immortal life? No thanks. But I definitely do my best work at night.
