Quick Poll

Ok, since it’s brought up, I’ve got to take a poll. Please make sure you vote. Because this is an ongoing argument, I’ll leave the poll open forever.

The argument of course, is exactly how many are there in a few? I say a few is only 3. No more, no less. Anything more than 3 is several.

You be the judge!

  1. “a few” is too contextual, imo, to mean any specific number. It just means the lower end of the possible range of values.

If you were to say something like “A few americans thinks/believe (whatever)”, that’d surely mean more than 3.

I’d even argue, that for a smaller sample, “a few” could even mean 2!

  2. Hmm I’ve never really thought about it. But, I’d say 3-7.. as a ‘few’ can’t be a specific amount.

  3. X… you are the man/woman!

Exactly what I’ve been saying all along, but you somehow put it into words I can not get to roll off my forked tongue.

    You’re my hero.
