Thursday Thirteen 56 ( week 8 )

Thirteen Favourite Foods of mine

  1. Unagi Donburi Unagi is one of my favourite foods. I
  2. Ramen I’m not talking about the ramen that you buy in a bag either. While I do eat Top Ramen, I only eat it because it’s the cheapest, and not by preference by far! I prefer Sapporo Ichiban Ramen, but at about 1.25 a bag, it gets expensive. But I’m Really talking about the ramen that you eat at the restaurant.  I Seriously miss eating Ramen in Japan. A good bowl of Ramen is almost worth the plane ticket and flight over there. Almost.
  3. Gyoza You know what goes Really well with a good bowl of Ramen? Gyoza. That would be what most people in the US called “pot stickers”. This reminds me. I have to make some. I
  4. Curry Rice I’m not talking about spicy types or Indian curry. I’m talking about the wimpy Japanese Curry that comes in a box. :) Yes, that’s right, the roux comes in a box and you just add it to boiling water (with veggies) and pour it on top of rice. I’m glad we recently had curry rice, because I’d have to make some soon if we hadn’t.
  5. Tonkatsu If there was any food that would go well with Curry Rice, it’s Tonkatsu. Tonkatsu is basically breaded pork loin chops. I
  6. Sushi Of course, I love sushi. I could Really cheat, and list all the different kinds of sushi I like, but I figure it has to be generalized into one item. But my favourite sushi would be: Maguro (Tuna), Hamachi (Yellowtail), Ika (squid), and Ikura (Salmon Roe)
  7. Eggs I
  8. Okonomiyaki I love this. Basically this are “japanese pancakes” but they’re hardly like pancakes at all. Depending on the region you are from or go to in Japan, okonomiyaki can include various foods. Since it’s harder to explain in words, take a visit to this japan-guide.com page to find out more about it. I’m a Hiroshima style okonomiyaki lover, since I lived down there while serving in the military.
  9. Steak Again, I could have listed the different kinds of steak that I love, but generalizing it one category works fine. Some of my favourite ones are: New York Strip, Rib Eye, Delmonico. I’m not very fond of Filet Mignon, although I’m just not sure why.
  10. Kimchi If there was ever a I Kimchi. I love this as a side dish, and as a dish even with rice! If you’re into spicy foods and haven’t tried Kimchi, you need to.
  11. Lasagna When I’m feeling like I’m hungry, and want something filling, lasagna fills that role very, very well. I’m a lasagna freak, and I’ve even managed to master the art of making the fastest lasagna ever! Well, ok, not the fastest ever, but pretty fast!
  12. Pizza I don’t think I could have made it through my twenties without the aid of Pizza. Enough said about that!
  13. Hoagies OMG, I’m not talking about subway either. I’m talking about Hoagies. From the tri-state area. Specifically, from Wawa. Everytime I fly into NJ, no matter what time it is, my parents know the first stop after picking me up from the airport is Wawa. They know that I’m wanting to get that Classic Roast Beef Hoagie. That’s right folks. Hoagies. If you’ve never tasted a hoagie, you need to.

100 Facts in 100 Days – Day 11

11. I have not smoked since November of 2005. So one day, I got severely sick, and went from smoking 1 pack a day to no cigarettes in a day. I just couldn’t smoke anymore, and I just never picked the habit back up. I do want to state however, that there have been many times when I’ve wanted to smoke, especially in the past couple months, however, this is where my absent-mindedness comes in handy. I just forget that I wanted a smoke. Simple huh?

But everyone assures me that I’ve just added years to my life. But, I’m not sure if I’ll truly miss pooping all over myself. I mean Really.

Going Pink

While this is a relatively early notification, this will give plenty of people time to get things set up. As you may or may not know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and is also time for the Boobiethon. This year however, Matthew is opening up Pink for October also! The idea is relatively simple, you can consider redesigning your site for the month of October, to pink.

For those of you who stuck through Blogathon 2006 with me already know that I was blogging for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and that I already have a pink layout. So for the whole month of October, to help raise dollars and donations for Breast Cancer Awareness, I’ll be converting this blog back to the pink, and will be again “blogging for a cure.”

I hope you all can contribute or at least think about a ribbon or the link to the Pink for October site. Together, we can find a cure!

Overheard

Parents (who are meeting Joey for the first time and are practicing Catholics): So Joey, what religion are you?

Joey: Who me? Oh, I’m pagan.

Parents:

Joey (whispered to friend): Dude, did I say something wrong?
