Memory Monday

Dana started Memory Monday last year to honor her Grandfather, who suffered from Dementia/Alzheimer’s. I totally sympathize. So every Monday, I plan on posting about some kind of memory I’ve had from the past, so no one will forget them, especially me. So let’s jump into the time machine and drift back to the good ol’ 80’s.

Dana mentioned that music brings back memories in her last post. So true. I was telling her that Sweet Child O’ Mine brings me back to the time when I was working at Six Flags Great Adventure. There are quite a few songs that I do associate with good ol’ G.A. I remember hearing bands that I never really listened to before, and experiencing new sounds. I loved it.

While we worked in our restaurants (I was in foods division), we’d have the radio blasting in the backroom playing something or another. Come to think of it, I had many mix tapes that I would bring to work just to listen to them. Those were the days of 45’s and we’d go out and buy tons of them and make various mix tapes. Those were the days I tell you.

While working at Food Fair, and I remember that every time this one girl walked into the building, the song “Sign Your Name” would be playing. She asked me one day, if I was waiting for her to come in and changed the song to play that song, but no, I had to admit, it was pure coincidence. She looked at me with suspicion, and we both laughed. That was perhaps the beginning of a great friendship. (LOL sorry, didn’t really mean to use that line but it works.) I recall that summer was a good summer. It was definitely a lot of fun. I often wonder once in a while how she’s doing. We did lose touch a long time ago.

Thanks Dana, for starting up Memory Monday. I love this idea.

What a great post!  Thank you for participating!  “Sweet Child of Mine” is a good song.  I remember getting drunk in high school to that song and then getting in BIG trouble when my parents found out.  I was such a rebel!

:) The 80’s….those were the days.
