No summary, no recap, because this whole week, I’ve been in bed mainly, due to me being so wimpy and taking pain meds.
But I did have a thought or few this week, and I was just thinking that technology has Really made us lazy. In particular, I’ll point out the invention of the PVR (Personal Video Recorder). I call it PVR instead of Tivo, because Tivo isn’t the only method of recording shows nowadays. Although the word Tivo seems to be synonymous to PVR’s. But I digress.
I’m not sure how anyone else’s PVR works, but I run Beyond TV and they have a feature that will cut out commercials for you. I found that not all do this, particularly Media Center, which Meesh is running on her ginormous computer. It doesn’t always work very well, and yes, I have to use the fast forward or skip forward manually, but 95% of the time, it’s just about dead on.
So now, in order to watch a show, I Really prefer to watch it later, after it’s been recorded, and the commercials skipped out. If given the choice of watching the show “live” as opposed to “recorded”, I’ll watch it recorded, just so I can skip over the commercials.
While this is not exactly a conventional laziness, I still think of it as being lazy. Too lazy to watch the commercials.
[edit] I just wanted to add a few things, I’ve added a Top Commenters section, under “Extras”. It gets reset every month, just in case some of you are wondering why you’re not on the top of the list anymore. :)
