…and other cool things

And so, the rest of the post started previously will end here.

First of all, I’ve been spotlighted on the Blogathon site. They’re spotlighting bloggers and why they are doing the blogathon for their charity. I feel special now that I’m on there. On that note, remember that I’m blogging for Susan G. Komen for the Cure! Please consider being my sponsor!

Second of all, kailani has nominated me an “awesome guy blogger”, keeping the “rockin girl blogger” awards. I feel especially flattered. Normally I don’t do these kind of things, but I guess I have to point out some other awesome guy bloggers. I’ll even put up the image for maximum cheesiness. And don’t forget to check out An Island Review, where kailani does all the hard work for us, and manages to find all the deals and contests to get free stuff. (including the iPhone!)

So here is a list of who I consider “Awesome Guy Bloggers”:

1. cybrpunk.com : Not only is he an Awesome Guy Blogger, he happens to be one of my best friends. He never fails to make me laugh, or just to have a good time when he’s talking about his misadventures in Hong Kong (or any other part of the world). I’d Totally have to mention him.

2. Apropos of Something : Jess is awesome. He Totally has the best comics, the best sense of humour. I love his site! I don’t Really remember how I got to reading his site, but honestly, it’s Really good stuff. Way better than the “content” you see here. :P

I’m sure there are tons of other sites I could highlight, but honestly, those two just happened to be on my mind today for this award thingy. :)

Third of all, (if you’re still with me on the original topic of the “..and other cool things” topic) thanks to Tray, I was able to get a Skitch invitation. Let me tell you, this is cool. Not only is it a very cool way to share your images, the program itself is so versatile, you can easily port your image to any other program, easily! You can easily manipulate an image, write notes on it, draw images on it, point out various things on it, and so on. Really, I love this! It also works great with my wacom tablet, although it’s a bit odd on the sensitivity and some things don’t show up just right if i’m writing too fast. But that’s probably a matter of adjustment.

Today’s a great day!

Upcoming Blogathon and other cool things

Just another reminder that the Blogathon is soon approaching, and there are only 16 days until we officially start pulling our hairs out and trying to stay awake. There were a few things I learned from last years thon, and I guess I should share some with you:

1. Drinking caffeine is great and all, but honestly, if you’re going to be up for 25 hours or so (25 because you have to factor in the primping time before the thon actually starts), caffeine doesn’t do you much good at the 18th hour or so. You just have to pee. A lot.

2. Having a plan, a real plan, helps. My plan of not having a plan worked out well, but I think this year, it will be a bit more challenging to do. Luckily, I’ve got many many topics to cover this year.

3. Doing the thon with friends Really helps. Last year, we had a chatroom, and we all had webcams so we could talk to each other and make stupid funny faces at each other. That Really helped throughout the thon. Especially during the last hours of the day.

4. If you have a webcam, black and white is best. Honestly. You look a lot better in black and white after 20 hours of sitting in front of your computer (or whatever you do). So I Totally recommend using black and white. I learned this lesson from Danalyn last year. She looked hell of a lot better than the rest of us.

5. Have a backup plan if your site happens to go down. Honestly. during the middle of the night, my site had issues last year. Luckily, I was using my wordpress blog, but this year, I’ve actually decided to set up a mirror site in the event that something like this happens again. But you should always be sure you have a second site you can fall back on to keep posting. Blogger or WordPress are great and are free.

I guess that’s Really just about it. I bet I’ll come up with a lot more later on.

Just a reminder, that I am blogging for Susan G. Komen for the Cure again this year, so please consider becoming my sponsor!

[EDIT] Well, in the title I said “and other cool things” and I had intentions of posting such things, however, I Totally forgot as I was writing this entry. Please forgive me for that and the “…and other cool things” post will shortly follow, later on today.
