Switching to WordPress

Ok, so I’ve been wanting to know, what are the wordpress plugins you can’t possibly live without? I know there are plenty of articles and posts about this, but I’d like to hear a fresh list of plugins that you must have in order for your wordpress site to rock.

So, give it to me please!

    Read through the comments because even though the original article is a bit older, the comments keep going. Some are as new as a couple weeks ago.

    If it hasn't been built in already – akismet seems to be the absolutely necessary one to get. I understand Google Analytics does a more complete job of site statistics than the built in WordPress one but can't say for sure (I'm still hosting on wordpress.org).

    Look forward to seeing a report from you at some point about which plugins you stick with and which ones might sound nice but didn't work for you.

  2. ooh.. i *LOVE* wordpress. and plugins rock my face off. some of them are older (since my everymoment.org WP is a couple versions old.. so some of these plugins may not be necessary since they've been including more and more "stuff" in the actual wordpress install right off the bat.. but i'll list them here anyways) so here's a couple of the ones i use and love:

    (creates a sticky post option)

    (this is for older WP installs.. but i'm sure someone made a newer version of this.. i'm just too tired/lazy to look that up right now)

    lightbox2 plugin http://www.stimuli.ca/lightbox/

    mini-posts http://www.piepalace.ca/blog/projects/miniposts
    (creates sidebar posts of a certain category. i'm pretty sure there's a way to do this with just using wordpress code.. but this was easier :-) because again.. i'm lazy)
