Some are as new as a couple weeks ago. If it hasn't been built in already - akismet seems to be the absolutely necessary one to get. I understand Google Analytics does a more complete job of site statistics than the built in Wordpress one but can't say for sure (I'm still hosting on wordpress.org). Look forward to seeing a report from you at some point about which plugins you stick with and which ones might sound nice but didn't work for you.
