Dyscalculia

You’ve heard of Dyslexia, where you mix up words. But did you know about Dyscalculia, where you mess up numbers and math? According to a study in Auckland University, 6 percent of the population suffer from it. So if you’re bad at math, there may be a perfectly logical and explainable reason for it besides being “bad at math”.

This may be a relief to people like Tiggerprr who suffers from being bad at math. She hates numbers so much. She can’t even play Sudoku. That’s horrible! I love me a good game of Sudoku once in a while. But she hates it because it has to do with numbers. She has no issue counting, she just can’t handle numbers. I think she definitely has Dyscalculia. Seriously.

Do you suffer from Dyscalculia?

  1. I always thought that numbers fell under the dyslexia and that I had it because I mix up numbers. All along I have had Dyscalculia.

Thank you Dear for showing me what a dumb ass I am.

  2. I don't suffer from Dyscalculia in that I have a problem with it. I suffer from it in that I had to read the word at this most unholy hour hehe.

Interesting though to be sure, once more than seven of my brain cells can link up at a time I'll probably have something more profound to say.

  3. @jenn yeah, isn't it? To me now, it makes perfect sense of everything.

@melanie Yeah, I thought so too, and you're not a dumbass lol.

@abraxus lol yeah saying the word makes my mouth twitch. LOL

@ocb lol yeah thanks for that topic. someday you'll post about something yourself. :D LOL I want that T-shirt! lol I want all t-shirts. hehe

  4. I just don't have the patience for sudoku. I think it's more of a right brain/left brain thing. Give me puzzle pieces that fit spacially, not logically, and I'm golden. :)

  5. OMG! I must totally have it! I hate numbers can't do maths although most of the times I understand the principles and I can't stand number games like sudoku. I attempted it once but when they explained to me how it worked I just gave them a blank stare and moved on to the fridge. Until now I simply thought I had a lazy brain. You know, the type that doesn't like to think unless it's absolutely necessary and sometimes not even then…

  6. @kate I love sudoku! love it! :D I've been told i'm too logical though. LOL

@colin Haha, I stopped trying to explain sudoku. I just decide that it's not really as easy as I thought it was. :P

@ocb haha we talked about this like a few days ago. I gave you plenty of time. :P

  7. I'm with Tiggerprr… It sounds like vampires doing calculus to me. Which of course would be the complete opposite of what it actually means. Unless the vampires were REALLY bad at it I suppose.

  8. @ocb LOL!!!

@tiggerprr there is no shame. Don't worry about it. I think wearing a CPAP machine is more shameful. And yeah, the word doesn't come out of my mouth right. So you're probably right. Dracula's nerdy brother. LOL

@soapbox Sudoku is fun. And yeah, it was suddenly everywhere! and now, I hardly hear about it at all. (so have to watch Juno now!)

    @cybr LOL
