Happy Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I’ve been reading up on this holiday, and lo behold it’s not just about a hoilday for drinking tequila and say “Ole!” all day. It’s mainly a day about celebrating the Mexican heritage, and from what I understand, it’s not entirely celebrated everywhere in Mexico. It just about sounds to me like it’s a holiday that most Mexican-American’s made up in the 1800’s. Which is still cool. Any holiday that celebrates an ethnicity should be welcome in America! That’s what the USA is all about, right?

What are your plans for Cinco de Mayo?

I plan to do yard work when I leave the office today.
BUT, I may enjoy some chips and salsa tonight while watching some TV. I know, I am just a wild girl!

Juliste Says:

Err, actually it isn’t just ‘made up’. Its to celebrate the Battle of Puebla in which the Mexicans defeated the French…Its also a GREAT excuse (for me) to pig out on red-sauce enchiladas and pacifico!

Katie Says:

We celebrated it yesterday, just cause Monday’s are not really celebrating days. We went and had Mexican food and margaritas. Mmmm.

Yoshi Says:

@jenn chips and salsa definitely sounds good to me!

@juliste Ah, perhaps I used the wrong words. :D Regardless it’s to celebrate the heritage. It’s apparently just a state holiday in Mexico. LOL definitely a great excuse. :D

@katie Mondays are still good days to celebrate!

daniel Says:

kailani Says:

We don’t really celebrate Cinco de Mayo but it is also Boy’s Day!

Happy Boy’s Day!

Yoshi Says:

@daniel hopefully you found something to do :D

@kailani Oh yeah it is boy’s day too! :D
