The other day I made a post about old car memories and one of my friends called it the Sushimobile. That totally brought back some memories, and another friend also reminded me what we called ourselves: “The Sushi Crew“. I’ll probably explain why we called ourselves that in a different post. That just about made me LOL when I read that. Ah, good times were had in those days. I think we went everywhere there was to go in Jersey in the sushimobile. I remember getting lost in it, and being found, breaking down, pushing it, and everything that could ever happen in a car happened in the sushimobile.
One time while driving down Route 38, I remember the area losing power. We were on our way home from somewhere, and all the lights down 38 were out, including all the stores, the car dealerships, and everything. That was before the construction was done to make 38 a big ass four lane highway, so going through Mt. Holly was pretty scary with all the lights out.
We were all marveled, because it was just eerie without the traffic lights and I made a comment, “Wow, even with all this power out, it’s good to know that the radio station still plays and has backup power.” And just at that very moment, the radio went silent. WMMR, 93.3 went quiet. I think everyone at once were slackjawed and just looked at the radio. But soon, about 15 seconds later, the DJ came on and apologized for the dead air.
That was a freaky night in the Sushimobile. Have you ever had anything freaky like that happen to you?

Where we live it's a good 3 hour drive on the highway to get to Edmonton so of course if we make the drive at night it's pitch black for long long stretches with the occasional other driver or distant Farm House being the only source of light other than the car.
Being this far north there is quite a bit of local wildlife out and about so it's not uncommon to see deer, coyotes or even the occasional Black Bear.
One evening we stayed very late in the City to watch a movie and were driving back at around 2 AM when I saw some deer in my headlights about 200 feet ahead of us. Well at 100KM/h 200 feet goes away very fast so I slammed on my brakes and when I realized I wasn't going to hit one of them I let out the breath I was holding.
I was so focused on the deer I did not notice the Semi coming the other direction and he didn't have time to stop so when the deer jumped to avoid my car they landed right in the path of the Semi. He clipped one of them and it went flying right past my car, like..6 inches from hitting it.
Scared the snot out of me. I had to get out of the car and make sure the animal was dead, talk to the Semi driver and calm my wife down (she had been half asleep when it all happened) but it was a good 45 minutes before I could drive after that I was shaking from the adrenaline so much.
Remember Yosh – there were two Sushimobiles, one was green and the other blue (I think). We must've been everywhere in those things. One place comes to mind – House on the Hill – I think they made some killer shakes or something.. but where was that place again? I'll go back to see if it's still there.
Freaky happenings:
Not so much freaky as just plain cool. The night I went with some friends to see Metallica in Philly – on the way home we saw about 100 deer in the road and across a field in Medford(I never saw that many in one place) – but then I looked out the window and told my buddy Dave to pull over because we'll probably never see this again in NJ – The Northern Lights were out that night in the sky. It was pretty amazing, I remember them being mostly red flares.. dancing back and forth, then a large flare shot straight up into th sky. Very cool sight. Thinking back, I've never seen them since in NJ, so there is a small possibility that it was because of something I might have inhaled at the concert. Naaaa. Lol!
No nothing. Nothing freaky ever happened. You can't prove anything.
I think I would have looked up for the UFO.
If that had actually heralded the end of the world? That would have been cool.
