While on a road trip down to Texas (from St. Louis), cybr and I encountered these candy/soda machines at a rest stop in Mississippi. I’m sure you’re wondering why this picture is such a big deal, but you probably should notice the lack of chains and bars around the machines. That was an astonishing thing for me, since all candy and soda machines seem to be behind chains or bars. It made me think there are still some places where the crime isn’t so bad.

It IS unusual not to see chains or bars on things when you're used to seeing them.
We don't have things chained up down here (in Springfield), our rednecks simply take the whole machine. *grin*
We don't have ours chained or caged up. Of course, we are in a town where you don't need to lock your doors or put away your bikes at night.
(yes I do realize we had one of the most famous multiple murders in my town, but still…it's safe, lol)
I hardly ever see chains on the machines. Then again, around here you can pump your gas, then stroll into the store to pay for it.
Did we drive through Mississippi? Was that coming back from New Orleans? I don't remember.
@write from karen LOL taking the whole machine is not a foreign idea to me, that's funny. :D
@alice That's definitely a lost thing nowadays to be able to pump your gas and pay for it afterwards. I remember waiting in line twice so many times when I lived in california. ugh.
@melanie Is it really that safe mel? LOL
@cybrpunk Yes dork. LOL It was on the way home from new orleans yeap.
