Of all the things I dislike about getting older this is right at the top of my list. Hearing about the passing of someone whose work I was a fan of be they Celebrity or not is always a sad day for me and of course the world.
I agree with Abraxus. The older we get the more people that we grew up with die off.
Although I have to be honest: I know the name Sydney Pollack but I have no idea who he is. Oh wait didn’t Ed Harris play him in a movie about a deranged painter or something?
No you’re thinking of Jackson Pollock not Sydney Pollack. Sydney was both an Actor and Director. Out of Africa & Tootsie were some of his more famous works from back in the day. More recently he had some Guest shots on The Soprano’s as Warren Feldman.
He was quite the mover and shaker in Hollywood though and had his hand in many popular films over the years between his Directing and his Production Company which is called Mirage…something…the full name eludes me at the moment.
He won for Best Director at the Academy Awards for Out of Africa.
Edit to Add: Jackson Pollock died in 1956 actually.
