We've been doing that here the last few weeks. On my days off from work we go into our 'Storage/Junk' area. I bring home a few sturdy boxes and we fill them, seal them and get rid of them.

Last week it was 7 Boxes of paperbacks that I have not read in probably 6 years or more. We took them to the local Book Store and they gave me $130 in Credit towards anything in the store. I consider it a fair trade and now I have room for at least a little bit of my Wife's Manga collection instead of it being in Metre high piles all over the house.

This week I have 7 more boxes ( I only bring home the tough boxes because I don't want the bottom falling out lol ) and we're getting rid of my old card collections. I long ago sold off my valuable Magic: The Gathering cards so what I have left is other Collectible Card Games that never were very popular around here. Probably about 8 Kg worth or so.

We've almsot unburied the old couch...which I would LOVE to get rid off as it is no longer even remotely useful as a couch. It's been a spot to store things in the far corner of the room for about 4 years now.
