F.ck the Marines! I hope that A-hole gets killed! This is the kind of scum that America is proud of.
Sadistic bastard. I don't think I've ever met a Marine who didn't love dogs more than most humans.
I hope that bastard gets thrown off a cliff! He deserves to die. What a p.o.s.
I hope this sorry excuse for a human has a miserable life. He's an absolute scumbag.
The "killing machine" should be locked up.
Tis the era to be PC it seems. While the mans actions are deplorable casting blame onto the entire Marine Corp is un-called for. The man made a disgusting choice and paid for it.
He is heartless. It makes me sick to even consider this. I'm a HUGE animal lover. I carry all bugs out of my home. But to say that he should die? Aren't we perpetuating the evil? He needs counseling, to be treated for his obvious disregard for life. He's sick for sure. But I don't believe he should die.
Abraxus, you are completely wrong. This is a necessary outcome of the Marine Corp, indeed, of all armed services. The dehumanising of soldiers during boot camp, the training of "killing machines," and the effort to create people who would rather take a life than save it can only lead to this and other horrors. Think about Haditha, think about Me Lei. Sick, sadistic killers in uniform are not only the result, they are the DESIRED result of government. This is not a "politically correct" statement, this is a statement of fact. If you doubt that, you've either never been in the service or have never known anyone in the service. The idea is simple: Kill on command and get promoted.
CRB, to answer your question, those guys for Blackwater probably got promoted for the reasons outlined above.
I say good riddance to bad rubbish with this Marine's departure, but I'd like to see the bastards who masacred civilian women and children in Haditha (and likely elsewherre in Iraq and Afganistan) similarly "processed for removal." But, of course, that will be the bloody day.
FASTER! FASTER! KILL KILL KILL! GO AMERICA!

I cant believe this!! He only got kicked out?? That's it?! Are you serious… these are the people that deserve to have animal testing done on them. Save the animals and suffer the sob's that hurt the innocent!! Tears came to my eyes when I read this story. What's does the a-h do for an encore – rape an old lady or maybe a 5 year old? Karhma is gonna get him!!
!!?? My tax dollars are being used to train a person to be that callous and deviant that they can throw an innocent puppy off a cliff?? I thought we were fighting a war – who are we fighting the puppies? It is so wrong with this!! It was a PUPPY for god sake. Maybe the government isnt showing our military the difference between the enemy and puppies. Nice huh? Good going Bush – and dont forget to hide this under the rug too!!
A person who is capable of this kind of act cannot be trusted. Who knows when he may have cracked and turned on one of his fellow soldiers. It was smart to kick him out but he should face charges in a U.S. court for animal cruelty and be sentenced accordingly. Getting therapy is putting it mildly for this kind of sick person.
Relax everyone! Yeah, so this guy killed a dog. Yes, it sucks but it's not the end of the world. why don't you worry about bigger issues?! can you imagine how many (unreported) innocent victims die each day in Iraq because of our military. innocent women and children die every day because of our military whether on purpose or by accident. I'd rather see a thousand killed puppies before I saw a single innocent little girl get hit by a stray bullet fired by an American soldier.
why not go to your local animal shelter and adopt as many dogs as you can before they get put down. get a grip, folks. it's not that big of deal.
Tossing a whimpering, small puppy over a cliff is not just mean, it is utterly psychologically disturbed. Isn't this just an example of the Marine Corps having made Lance Corporal Motari into all he could be. After all, the Marine Corps often utilizes the slogan, 'be all you can be' in its advertisements for recruiting.
I think Zenichi-Maro was fair in his assessment about the type of mentality which the Marine Corps fosters, namely to enjoy killing without remorse.
Ummm, "Relax everyone"? You need to do a little reading on this subject. There is a direct correlation between cruelty to animals and cruelty to people. This is a proven, well-researched and well-documented fact.
So, in point of fact, it IS that big of a deal: someone psychotic enough to not have any regard for the life of a small, defenceless animal is clearly on the path of taking the lives of many larger defenceless animals–like, perhaps that hyphothetical girl you spoke of.
I actually find your comment that it's "just a dog" rather disturbing in itself; life is life, my friend. There is no distinction. If one is taking on the karma for taking a life, one best be sure it's for a damned good reason–and there are exceptionally few good reaons, in my view–for doing so.

He was kicked out of the Corps. That's it?!? He should be subject to criminal charges as well.
I was a soldier, as well as I am an animal lover. So, I think I can see both perspectives.
As much as I can understand the tenderness and love of cuddling a pet, I can also understand that in order to do a soldier's job, you cannot be tender and loving. Fighting wars requires cold, coordinated, violent actions.
Many of those soldiers act mercilessly, so you can enjoy your right to cuddle your pet.
You cannot train soldiers with lullabies; you train them with songs of killing "yellow birds", and "puppies", and other people. Whatever it takes to get the primordial instincts to surface.
All I say is you cannot fight wars without being cold violent. And without wars, you will not enjoy any of those rights you so much cherish.
As for the Marine Corps, is just a PR move in times of unpopular wars. Many generals must be joking at the unfortunate animal.
Some reference at what I mean:

I'm not interested in turning poor Yoshi's Blog into a Flame War but I'll say this much on my own behalf.
I've never served, but my entire family has. Mother, Father, Grandfather and Grandmother (as a nurse). I've lived on and around Military Bases my entire life. I fully understand what the training is like in the Military these days as I know quite a few enlisted men and women.
So please don't tell me about myself when you don't even know me.
As for my opinions on your 'post' I'd be happy to discuss them privately if you like.
THANK YOU ZNM!! I applaud your remarks. The comments from "Relax Everyone" WERE indeed disturbing. Are you kidding me? Tell me, really… What kind of human being can do this to an innocent animal? A puppy! WTF??? Whether in IRAQ or in the US, these animal abusers make me completely ill. They are the quentessential 'murderers of the innocent.' Give me a better example of innocence than that picture of a small black-and-white crying puppy.
I agree with Natalie and others. In my opinion, kicking him out of the Marine Corp. was too kind. Criminal charges MUST be brought. I hope that karma gets him… or perhaps a special torture chamber in hell.
Absolutely disgusting….while I cannot possibly understand the horror and stress that the soldiers in Iraq face, (although I know some very nice people that have seen combat in Iraq and both my mother and father served in Vietnam), I hope that sweet innocent animals would be a source of comfort and purity amidst the chaos of war. We've all seen other articles about soldiers caring for strays and even bringing them back home – one unfortunate family who lost their son has adopted the two dogs he was caring for in Iraq since they are like a piece of him and an symbol of his humanity and love.
I am glad that the soldier was disciplined, however, I feel that a person that wants to kill puppies for fun should be jailed and recieve intensive psycological counseling. I realize combat adversely affects a person psycologically, but no soldier I personally know would ever harm a baby animal – the guy in question sounds like he's on the road to becoming a serial killer….sick, sick, sick. I and my eight dogs are horrified.
I am offended that a representative of our US armed services would behave in such a cruel manner and to video tape the act and post it onto youtube.
I want the men and women who represent our country to value life. I am trying not to be "Polly-anna" about this particular case just because this is a puppy, but I think it shows exactly how this individual values life in general.
I would not trust this person to defend and protect me if I were and Iraqi citizen, nor would I if he were here in the States.
It is well documented that serial killers display this sort of radical, disgusting behavior, disregarding any sacred meaning of life just to torture a living being for their enjoyment.
I am not naive as to what our brave men and women must experience while serving our country during times of war. I do not pretend to assume that it is easy or that these people do not experience situations that I cannot imagine. But, I must believe that the people who chose to represent our nation and our value of freedom and life must live up to some standard while serving.
This was not an action under pressure of war that this individual later regretted. On the contrary, this was an act that was thought out to the point that a video recorder was prepared. This was an egotistical pig: a bully stronger than another child on the playground: a U.S. Marine who was stronger than a puppy.
Way to go, sir, you sure showed him……
I'm wondering why the Marine Corps. took so long to get rid of this guy. What he did was despicable and the sign of a mentally deranged person. At first I questioned whether he was playing a sick joke and had someone off camera catch the puppy, but after this investigation this sob deserves severe punishment for his actions. They should turn this guy loose to a mob of animal lovers (like myself) and see how much there would be left of him to "throw off a cliff". He's one sick bastard.
Abraxus,
I do not know about you, your mother, father, grandfather and grandmother. Nor will I tell you about yourself. Suffice it to state that between incidents like this, Haditha and the rape and alleged rapes that were committed in Okinawa, that the Marines could do far more to instill some sense of honor and to do what is right. But I think the Marines place far more value on their ability to fight and kill that which is not American than to be honorable and do right towards them.

Francisco,
God help us when those merciless, cold blooded and violent service personnel return to the United States and live amongst us.
I, for one, am unwilling to justify or rationalize atrocities committed by the American military personnel in the name of protecting my rights. In my opinion, to put it bluntly, that is kaka.
Yes, I think it’s wrong and sick this Marine would do such a thing but kicking him out? I’d like to know what happened to the Blackwater contractors who killed 17 unarmed Iraqis?
This dude Motari needs a bullet between the eyes, the sick bastard. Or better, yet, should be thrown off a cliff. What the fuck kind of rock was this prick born under? I hope he gets cancer in his fucking balls and dies, the sick puke. His mother should have dropped his worthless soul in the pail of a fucking abortionist. I hate the cock sucker and I hope he dies.
Abraxus:
You've clearly taken offence at my comments, and I truly regret that. You are correct in saying that one should not infer information about someone without having first met them. So, for that I do apologise.
Still, I am flabbergasted that you don't seem to get the connection between this particular Marine's actions and the overall culture of the Marine Corps in particular and the military in general. Of course not everyone who enlists and goes through boot is going to go psycho, but I would argue, and this is from experience, that the process of BREAKING a person down and rebuilding them as soldiers necessarily means that you're chipping away at some of humanity's commonly held mores, hence opening the door for psychotic behaviour. The military turns humans into "killing machines," and celebrates this as a matter of course, as a matter of culture.
My point was, and remains, that this guy's actions did not happen in a vacuum. The examples I brought up seem to point in that direction, no? I mean, every major conflict has an atrocity associated with it (and it's not limited to the US military: think about the rape of Nan Jing by the Japanese for example). The reason these atrocities happen in war time is because they're the necessary, logical outcome of a process that turns normally compassionate, empathetic, harmonious beings into mindless, order-following, implements of death.
Finally, I am certainly open to carrying on this discussion off-line, but I don't understand your implied sarcasm by referring to my "post." I'm sure that my logic is tight, my argument cogent. If you care to have a discussion of intellect, I am happy to entertain that. Otherwise, I think my point is clear and well-made, but obviously there is always room for dialogue.
Cheers,
ZNM
Indeed, animal cruelty is one of the first signs of deep psychological problems. One who is able to commit such a horrendous crime is able to commit plenty of others, and worse ones at that.
Throw the SOB off the cliff and watch him suffer as the poor innocent puppy did.
OMG – what a bunch of hypocrites posting ridiculous and pathetic replies?!
yeah, the guy killed a puppy. seriously, he probably did the puppy a favor and probably would've most likely starved to death or became some insurgent's meal. if anything, the Marine put the dog out of his "future" misery.
so let's summarize some responses here from those that despise what this Marine did:
"[put a ] bullet between the eyes, the sick bastard"
"should be thrown off a cliff"
"turn this guy loose to a mob of animal lovers (like myself)"
"I hope that A-hole gets killed!"
wow! what fun loving people here. sure, call him a cruel SOB, fuckhead, dumb shit loser…etc. whatever! but geez, wanting those things to happen to this soldier is 100 times more sickening than what he's done. so look at your self in the mirror and say this: "I too am a fucking sadistic loser."
if you've ever been in combat and seen your best friend(s) get blown up to pieces by an IED or saw a video of your best friend being tortured and then decapitated…uh, you sorta don't really care too much about puppies. with the state of mind these guys are in, these is the least that you should be worried about.
bunch of morons on this thread (not including me, of course)!!!
