New Wash. law bans hand-held phones while driving I’d say this is about time. I wonder how many people will still be holding and talking on their phone while driving tomorrow.

I don’t think it’s so much the phone itself that is the problem in these cases. I would say it’s more the distraction of the conversation with a 3rd part not present.

I’ve had a few instances of Cell Phone driving, it’s just not the same as talking with someone in the car with you. It’s like it divides your attention by about 50% or something.

Honestly though the days of people having their cell in their ear are coming to an end with the prevalence of Bluetooth devices anyway. I am not even a phone geek or anything and my phone supports Bluetooth Headsets. How are they going to ding you for that if they can hardly even see the stubby lil things in your ear?

  2. I agree. Even with a headset, people are distracted and way too dangerous. I was almost hit a few times by someone driving while talking on the cell.

@abraxus You know, i’ve waited and looked around, and i still see people talking on their phones while driving. do they just feign ignorance and say “i didn’t know!” And do the cops let them go? It’s such an easy ticket too. I’d imagine that cops would be pulling people over a lot. But nope.

@daddy forever yeah, but the law is saying that with the hands free at least they have both hands (yeah right) on the wheel. we all know not everyone drives like that. I do, but call me a super defensive driver. LOL yeah, people who talk on phones are totally irresponsible at this point now.
