Every year in Washington State, we have fire season. It’s pretty much the same as in California or any area where it always catches fire in the mountains. The eastern side of Washington is primarily desert, and there’s plenty of brown everywhere. It’s very dry (as opposed to here!) and the mountainous areas catch on fire very easily.

Meesh has been asked to go out to Wenatchee, WA, where there is one fire dispatch center. Luckily, she’ll be working in an office environment with Air Conditioning, calling fire crews and coordinating all the fire efforts. It’s a pretty crazy job, since there are so many fires. While the fires are not so bad this year (or so I hear), it’s still bad enough to where they need the help to call and coordinate. Oh, and did I mention the days are long, but the pay is pretty good? Still she’s not here, so it’s pretty quiet around here.

Oh, and you know how I mentioned that she’s in an office environment? One year she went, they were in the middle of nowhere, with tents and it was very hot. Very, very hot. So yeah, this is nice compared to what it could be like. The weather forecast for Wenatchee today said it was going to be 95. Whew. I don’t think it’s going to be 80 here in Olympia today.
