Ok, so when you have a stroke, one of the first things that might happen is it’s tough to swallow. Even water is tough to swallow, because it’s so fast to go down your throat. It’s important because you might choke and your risk for pneumonia is higher. And you don’t want that. Your food is blended, which is bad, but the liquids are worse. They thicken the drinks so you don’t choke. So, the apple juice let’s say is very thick and … well, at first it looks like pudding. Imagine that. And anyone who has to drink “Lemon Flavoured thick water” gets a high five from me. Let’s say the food and drink is nasty. The nurses and I partied when I got normal food. I was so so happy. I love my nurses in rehab, they hook me up.
So what’s the point of all this? Treat your nurses right and don’t get sick. Ever.
