It’s raining, it’s pouring!

Ok so for the past few days, it’s been what seems to me like non-stop raining. But this is good, because now the snow is melting away and like normal, we are not stuck inside the house. Unfortunately, because of all the rain and all the melting snow, we are on flood watch. Go figure, we cannot win. Crazy.

In other news, it’s been real quiet around here, since I’m recuperating from this tube thingie sticking out of my belly, and Meesh is just relaxing from all the stress of taking care of me. I’m high maintenance you know! So nothing is really going on, not surprisingly.

However, I did manage to write a few articles over at jCrap, so if you’re interested in reading my stuff, then go on over there!

Last minute edit: I thought I’d add a poll to this post too.

Does it rain a lot where you live?

He looks like a pink nightmare!

nutcrackerIn case I don’t happen to run into you on the street (yeah right) or while in chat, I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I just can’t believe this year has gone by so fast. And it’s Christmas already and I haven’t even done any shopping at all for people. How horrible am I?

But I promise that next year, I’ll even have cards and presents for everyone. I promise! I can make it a New Year’s Resolution!

With that, I will share a video, Christmas in Japan, sent to me by Danalyn. Video after the bump!

Can I get it with just one mahi?

So what’s been going on lately? It wouldn’t seem like much is going on except for the massive snow that we’ve gotten. Honestly like I was saying before, it really figures that we would get all this snowfall (about 2 feet total) after I told my dad it never snows here. The roads are horrible, and there’s this median of snow in the middle of our road, so turning left out our driveway becomes an adventure!

snowyroadAs you can see from my awesome webcam picture, it’s not too bad as far as snow goes, but it’s horrible for this area! We rarely get snow. This is so rare it’s not even funny. I think I recall someone on the new saying, “I hate the snow, that’s why I moved to Seattle.” Indeed. It rarely snows around here.

In other news, for those of you who have forgotten that I have a food site, I’ve gone ahead and made a new post there. This one is about the Travel Channel show called Man vs. Food. It’s really a good show, and I’ve included a video about it. My short post is about the “Italian Stance“, which is basically the way to eat “the Chicago way”.

If that’s not enough, I’ve also posted a short story about the two-legged cat at jCrap. This one includes a video as well, and even though it’s in Japanese, all you really need to be able to do is view it. Very astonishing and heartbreaking.

So, what have you been doing to prepare for the holidays? I’ve done absolutely nothing. Nothing I say!

P.S. What movie is the title of this post from? hint: it’s out on DVD now!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Well for once, the weatherman was not lying when they said the snow will be coming down. Right now, we’re still getting snowed upon, and it looks like we’ve gotten about 3 to 4 inches so far. It doesn’t look like it’s gonna be stopping anytime soon either. It also looks like they’re closing some roads (not here) in the area. That’s some crazy driving. Hopefully DOT is really working hard, I’m sure they are, but oddly enough, our street (a very busy street) has hardly been plowed. Actually I might have heard a truck go by just recently.

snow121708But here’s a webcam picture of what it’s like on our street right now. Keep in mind that this road is very busy. In one given day, about 27,000 cars pass this road. That’s how busy it is.

I’ve heard this storm is supposed to continue until tonight, and I believe it ends sometime tomorrow morning. This is indeed crazy. I told my parents when they moved here that it never snows! Of course, I had to made a liar of! Thanks mother nature!

If I was in the mood to play in the snow, it would be great! And poor Meesh, she’s at work right now! She has to drive back in this horrible mess!

In the meadow we can build a snowman…

1118325_27613804So we finally got our first snow this weekend. I know there were a few of our friends that were pretty happy to see that. I’d have to say that I’m not quite as excited. But that’s ok, because I’m not going out in it.

With the snow, of course comes the cold weather. This week I think we’re supposed to be breaking some records or something. I don’t know about you but I’m not too keen on breaking any records for temperatures. Especially when they’re on the cold side. I believe the high was supposed to be 31 today. Of course, we’ve already went higher than that so that’s ok. Maybe they were talking about record lows. Thank you but no thank you.

Well, because I can’t leave things well alone, I’ve been farting around with the sidebar widgets and eventually added the Poll module back in. As you can see, the current poll is pretty standard, asking if you prefer paper or plastic.

Other than that, nothing exciting is going on here. I’m slowly recovering from the surgery, and doing pretty well. I have to admit that the hydromorphone prescribed to me helped a lot. But now, I’m out.

All the leaves are brown…

1119396_87520505So you might have noticed that things around here have changed. I guess since Wordpress released 2.7, I’ve been looking for a new look for the site. Danalyn sent me a link to this theme and I’ve been in love since. It’s pretty damn cool. You can even change the orders of the side items. Pretty slick eh?

On a different note, I’ve had to redo my blogroll. You’ll notice it’s a bit smaller than normal. If you’re missing from the list, let me know and I’ll add you in there.

Other than that, it’s almost Christmas, are you ready for the presents and stuff? I know I’m so not ready. LOL

So I have this tube in my belly…

koipondSo I had surgery today and got my peritoneal dialysis tube stuck in my belly. This will enable me to do peritoneal dialysis next month. Which is good, because my kidneys are failing man. This will get me going, thank goodness.

In other news, remember that site that Danalyn and I had started not too long ago? Well, now another friend has donated his domain for it and it’s now located at it’s new home, jCrap.com. It’s now known as J-crap, and it looks like we’ll be having some serious fun with it. Hopefully it becomes something.

And just to pimp out that Danalyn’s got some themes and plugins going on at her site. They’re really cheap and I’m sure you could use them. So why not help out a starving designer and buy some of her stuff? She’d appreciate it.

So this year for my birthday/christmas gift, my mom got me an Amazon Kindle. Now I must say that it has not changed how I read books. I mean there are still special things like hidden short stories at the end of a book edition that I have to get. But I will tell you that wow, it’s really awesome and easy to read.

As promised, the kindle reads exactly like a book, and it even auto advances the pages for you. (although the timing in this still needs some work.) Even if it didn’t advance the pages automatically for you, it’s still so very easy to flip to the next page. No more fumbling with the pages anymore. This also means you don’t have to actually hold the kindle too! No more worrying about how to hold down the pages while you eat. (which I do a lot)

The kindle is awesome. But what you have to watch out for is the price of books. Some books are priced very well, but newer books can be priced as high as a cheap hardcover. So you really need to watch out. It’s so very easy to rack up the dollars when buying books! With one touch, you can just buy a book, just like that. Luckily, if you did make a mistake, you can unbuy a book as well, but be warned, as far as I know, you can only do this right after the purchase of a book.

If you’ve been in the market for a Kindle, I’d say go ahead and save up your money for one. But if you’re a cheap reader and don’t like to buy books in hardcover, don’t bother, since you might be paying more for a book in the end.

P.S. The title this time is from a book that’s within the story of another book. I just thought it was appropriate.
