I know what you’re thinking. You can’t possibly be OCD right? Because you’re messy. But OCD doesn’t mean being a notorious clean freak. That’s not it. OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It means you are obsessive about a certain thing. It doesn’t necessarily mean cleanliness. Because that’s sure not me. I’ve calmed down quite a bit since I’ve been married to Meesh thank goodness. Here’s some examples of my OCDness before and now:
- (before) All food boxes had to face the same way. I was really obsessive about this. I would totally organize my cabinets and everything would face the same way and be in categories. I sorted all my canned goods and boxed dry goods. Crazy I know
- (somewhat now) Food can’t touch. I’ve really calmed down on this one. But in general, you’ll see maybe 2 or 3 items on my plate because food on my plate cannot touch. Some foods (like corn and mashed potatoes) are ok to touch because they go well together. But I will freak out sometimes if food is touching.
- (now) Before I cook anything in the kitchen, I must clean all the dishes. All the dishes should be cleaned anyways, but if there’s one thing that’s dirty, I will feel the need to clean it before I do any cooking. Strange right?
- (now) Wet socks must die! I cannot stand wet socks. I will walk around barefoot on lava before I wear wet socks. That is just gross! Actually, this applies to all clothes. I hate wetness. And yes, ironically I hate being in the rain. But I love being in water like the pool or showers. I just hate wet clothes.
So those are just some of the OCD things I have. I have a few more but I’m just too lazy to list them. If laziness is OCD I’m definitely it.
Tell me your OCDness!

before I started taking my crazy lady meds- my bed sheets and blankets all had to be even- even while under them. Not having them touch my inner thighs- at ALL. The pillow case opening had to face the edge of the bed. And I used to iron my sheets…. that’s just *one* example…. hehe
I can totally understand the sheets and blankets being all straight. and at right angles. I’m big about the right angles thing. LOL I remember going to restaurants and having to straighten up the condiment container (you know the thing with the ketchup and sugar packets) and have them at a right angle (90 degrees) to the table. when we sat at a round table…omg forget it I was constantly adjusting it. LOL
I don’t think wet socks or clothes is really OCD. I think anyone over the age of 10 would find it gross.
And I love corn and mashed potatoes together! What do you do if you have an ice cream cone with two different flavored scoops? Is that ok if they touch, lol.
I wash my hands several times an hour. I can’t stand anything on my palms. Lotion, sweat, dirt. Ick. So I am always washing them. They can’t smell like anything either. Same goes for my feet.
I have a nightly ritual that includes doors, windows and heaters checks. Even though I know they are locked (or in the case of the heaters, clear of anything) I have to check. No one else can check for me. The water heater drives me crazy because it is in the laundry room and kids will dump clothes near it. I have to move them atleast two feet away to be comfortable.
2 different flavored scoops is ok. they are after all the same foods. I don’t have problem with flavor. it’s all about the type of food. corn and mashed potatoes is ok. but you can’t have green beans and mashed potatoes touching. lol
washing hands i can understand. I hate my hands smelling like anything either! but sometimes it’s ok. It depends. that’s the ocd in me hehe
some people do not mind wet clothes. i’m just picky to the point of ocd about it. i mean like if i’m washing dishes and my shirt gets wet, i have to change to a different shirt. or i get rained on, etc. that’s ocd. lol
clsing the doors i understand, that is definitely me. I do it for at least 3 times. i mean i check to see if the door is locked 3 times. kinda like nick cages character in matchstick men lol
I have to change my shirt too if it gets wet. Or if I drop something on it. Even if it is an old shirt and even if I am not going to leave the house later…that spot will just drive me up the wall.
And green beans? They can’t touch my plate, lol.
LOL are you saying you don’t like green beans? they’re so good!
