Big Boss Grill – reviewed

I’m sure you’ve seen the Big Boss Grill. It’s basically the grill with interchangeable grilling plates, including an omelet, panini, griddle, and more. Of course, it does include a donut maker and a waffle iron. Pretty sweet. So, I decided to buy it. I haven’t regretted the decision. It’s so easy, and quick to make a lot of foods, although some of the recipes are a bit too simple in my opinion. They could Really use some help on the recipes.

So far, we’ve managed to make waffles, meatloaf, burgers and plenty more just easily. Clean up is a jiffy with this grill since you only have to clean the grill and it’s not very big. Which I suppose could be the only drawback.

However, today, when I plugged it in, it didn’t work. I think this might be a fluke and not a normal occurrence. I called customer support and they said there’s Really no way of troubleshooting it since the device is pretty simple and it should just work. I mean you plug it in and it goes. What could it possibly be? So they told me since I just bought it, they’ll just ship another one out and I just have to send the one we have back. It was pretty painless. Needless to say I was surprised. It’s probably just easier for them to do that anyways.

All in all, I’d say I’m very satisfied with the Big Boss Grill. I’m just such a junkie for the “as-seen-on-TV” stuff. I do have to say that the plates themselves are pretty light and feel kinda cheap. But it works (well, most of the time LOL) and that’s all that matters.

  1. I wonder how long it will be till someone with bandages on their hands and fingers sues the company because they go burnt trying to swap the cooking plates in the middle of cooking a meal?

    • LOL unfortunately you're right there'll be plenty of people who burn their fingers because of that. But I think they deserve to get burnt.

  2. I wonder if these things burning out is a common occurrence. I had a Cooks grill and it did the same thing as you reported within a few uses. I will be curious to see how long your new one lasts for you.

    • that's very interesting! Well we've gotten our new one and have used it quite a bit, I've made a lot of omelettes myself and I know we've done hamburgers a few times. So far it's working just fine.

I have found that it does steam up quite a bit, and I think that could be one of the design flaws and that may be what's causing the issues.

      • I have the xpess 101 (been thinking about getting the redi set go version) it steams up A LOT, and it still works and I haven't heard of it ever having that problem. It's too bad it doesn't come with more plates, so you can't make as many things. You can buy more plates for the redi set go, but after the high price and shipping, it doesn't seem worth it. Hopefully the Big Boss Grill fixes the problem soon, I would really like to have that one instead of the xpress, it's a lot bigger.

  3. Looks like a standard , deceptive scam operation: celebrity infomercial presentation (Vicki Lawrence), phony $14.95 "price" (that's for a 30 day trial) before they automatically slam your credit card for $60 for a cheap, poorly manufactured, China made product that will fall apart in no time and may well have toxic material layered on the flimsy, thin plates. Don't be stupid—save your money.

    • Strange, I'm eating a tuna sandwich I just made in it and it has been working just fine, made few grilled cheese, hot dogs, eggs, salami and it's much easier…Toxic material, i'm sure they would have been sued by now. Half of the stuff your wearing has come from China so….

  4. Thanks for the review. I use Isagenix for 2 meals a day and usually make something healthy and grilled for my third meal. My fiancee also grills lunches every day at home. The George Foreman and other comparable grills do not have as many plates. I am really looking forward to my Big BossGrill. I just ordered one today. I didnt get the extended warranty though. BTW, the other grills only have a 1 yr. warranty too and although I think the quality of the plates might be better, they just don't offer the price and versatility that I am looking for. I'll try this out and let you all know how it works!

P.S. If you are looking to add great nutrition to your diet or lose weight effectively, check out my website! I lost 25 pounds using Isagenix, quit my medications, quit caffeine and smoking, and I have kept the weight off for over a year… effortlessly! http://www.livclean.me

Anyone have any good belgian waffle batter recipes? :)

  5. If you really want a good indoor grill with all these interchangeable plates, get the George Foreman version. It's heavier, has heat control and is solid. I've had mine for over 3 years and use it constantly. I has the grill plates, waffle plate and griddle. NO donut, sandwich maker or omelet maker, but it's reliable.
It's about twice as much as the Big Boss but it's a real indoor grill, not a cheap P.O.S. guaranteed to fail eventually.

  6. From what I have seen, it is an excellent piece of equipment.
Canadians have to be very careful with the ordering. My bill came to to about CA$75.00, and that was OK.
Then there was this surpise; Import Charges CA$39.07.
Big Boss Grill used UPS for shipping instead of the Post Office.
You have to pay the brokarage fee.

  7. I too was considering the BBG. However I read several reviews online where there was nothing but trouble. Consistently, people were extremely dissatisfied enough with the company as to call it a scam and warn others not to purchase this appliance. Most folks consistently have bad experiences with rude customer service agents, extremely poor shipping execution and the ever classic [we used it once and it just quit working].

Look into this product before proceeding with a purchase. If it helps, here is a link to several reviews: http://hubpages.com/hub/BigBossGrill
