My soundtrack: Pop Song 89…

I Totally remember the GREEN tour. We all went to this concert, “the gang” and we had a blast. I remember a bunch of us going to this concert, and I think it was when I first met Kate (at least I think so). I don’t know why I remember it like this.

I remember we were dancing in the aisles of the Spectrum, which is no longer called the spectrum, I believe. I’m sure old school philly-ites still call it the Spectrum, but it’s known as the Wachovia Center I think? Perhaps someone from Philly can set me straight since I live on the opposite side of the states now. Anyways, we were in the aisles dancing just like in the video. I Totally remember that and I remember I didn’t feel like a dork at all. Which was a change.

I think this concert may have been my first “real” concert. I say “real” because I had seen a number of concerts at Six Flags Great Adventure when I worked there. I heard Bon Jovi at GA too. I say “heard” because I was working and the concert stadium was very close.  But I digress.

I don’t remember if I knew what to expect from my first concert in a real concert stadium, but I was reluctant to have any fun I think. I remember that much. But in the end, I had a blast. I think that might have been one of the best times I ever had, and that’s saying something because I’ve had a lot of fun in my life.

It just wouldn’t be a soundtrack for my life if I didn’t at least include the video for the song. I remember there was a lot of controversy about this song, something about the nipples and Michael Stipe just had to show his. It was pretty damn funny I think.  Enjoy. (yes, there is an ad before the video – live with it, you can wait to see the video) Video after the bump.

  1. Wow! IS this the night we met for the first time? Dee? Where's Dee? She'll confirm it with her crazy recall… It was a blast! And I got a tee in the parking lot that I wore until it faded to nothing.

    • Actually you know what? I remember the night we met. It was at Bennigan's. It was totally memorable because we took a picture of you in your car giving us the bird. LOL and also, later on, while driving home, there was a fire at a gas station and we had to check it out. I remember that night so very well.

  2. omg, I remember Bennigans! Don't remember giving the bird, but remember that fire. I think. Do you have that photo? I bet it was taken in the car that died on the turnpike…the nanny car that was crap.

      • Yes. Find it. :D
I'm still planning on taking a weekend and scanning some of the hundreds of photos I have from my year in NJ. Hard to believe it was only a year…so many memories crammed in there!

    • Right??!
Btw, Jen (the little girl I took care of) is coming to SF this summer! She's all grown up and heading for grad school. Crazy.

    • I haven't talked to him in a while. it's mostly my fault i think, I haven't sent him an email lol haven't talked to jeff in a while either. seems like there's never enough time for keeping in touch. Or I just forget to do it because something shiny distracts me.

      • Shiny things ARE distracting. And pretty.
Well tell him hi if/when you do pull yourself away from the shiny. ;)

        • I will definitely do that. I should send him an email. Just have to find his address. I bet he can tell us more details about that concert too.
