Christmas Eve

You know, is it Really Christmas? We did put a tree up this year, it’s the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. I think it’s Really awesome. In addition Meesh got the cutest snowman skier. I love it. What do you think?

I guess a lot has gone on this year though I’m not Really sure off the top of my head what they are. Right now, we’re just going through some crazy times with Washington State making so many cuts to its State Workers. Everyone thinks the State Workers are like what you see on the news, money-grubbing idiots, but they’re not. I know a lot of State Workers and yes, Meesh is one of them. With all the cuts, it’s debatable if next Christmas Meesh is even going to have a job. Just crazy. I’m sure we’ll be okay, but you know, it gets kinda crazy when you don’t know if you’re going to have a job tomorrow. Heads can roll at anytime.

But, I didn’t mean to bring everyone down, hope you’re having a great Christmas! We’ve gotten some of the Christmas cards in and I want to give a great big Thanks! I believe we sent out about 44 Christmas cards out, I can only hope to get as many back!

Lunch today

Today, I made a bento box lunch for Meesh. Some mini-hamburgers on a bed of green baby lettuce, with some takuan, rice with some seaweed flakes sprinkled on it, and japanese potato salad. Let’s hope it tastes as good as it looks and smells!

Ninja KS 1100 update and mini review

Ok, I received my Ninja Kitchen System 1100 yesterday. It was a pleasant surprise, as I expected, and here are my first impressions without actually using it just yet.

Taking it out of the box was very easy and straightforward. It came with a quick start guide that shows you all the pieces which were all there and what they did. Very straightforward and very informative. Kudos to them. I read the full instructions, including the care and cleaning information. Yes, the Ninja accessories are machine washable. So that’s what I’m doing. I Really don’t see how it wouldn’t be, unless the plastic parts melt in heated drying conditions. Luckily, I’m not a fan of the heated air dry and I don’t plan on testing it either. If someone has a Ninja KS system they’d wish to contribute to try it, I’ll do it then.

So there is the mini review. Right out of the box, it looks impressive and very big actually when you put the dough attachment on. I’m not Really sure why you can’t have the dough attachment on all the time except to conserve space on your counter. (Like me) I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes they sent in the very thick cookbook I got days earlier. Full review to follow soon!

[UPDATE] You can find my full review here.

Ninja KS Update

Ok, so far, I’ve gotten another email telling me that my order is now on back-order, and earlier this week, I actually received the Ninja KS cookbook, labeled on the packing slip with the Priority Processing. So does this mean the Priority Processing was put towards the cookbook? I thought the cookbook would arrive with the actual Ninja 1100 Kitchen System. I don’t even remember the cookbook even being a separate part of it. I guess this is their way of legally getting around it.

In other news, I also received my Wonder File as well. I haven’t used it quite yet, as I’ve been busy with Christmas stuff. I’ll have a review of it soon. My first impressions are pretty good so far.

Lucy Liu on Lifetime: Marry Me

No, I’m not asking Lucy Liu to marry me. She’s starring in a lifetime movie coming out this Sunday called Marry Me. Now normally I’d not watch a Lifetime movie. But this time it’s Lucy Liu, and Really, can I resist? Long time readers might remember my Top Ten List of women way back when. That’s right, Lucy Liu is on the top of that list. I’d say she’s probably still on the top, second only to Meesh of course. But Meesh is a given to be number one.

But anyways, if you get Lifetime, check it out, it’s a 2 night event, so you might want to set it to record on your DVR. I know I did. :D

Ninja 1100 Kitchen System Backordered!

Remember when I decided to order the Ninja 1100 Kitchen System last week? Here’s the email I received today:

Due to a larger than expected response, the item(s) you ordered are temporarily out of stock. Please be advised that your order will ship once the merchandise is available. If you have any questions regarding this message, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1- 800-xxx-xxxx. Our Agents are available Monday through Saturday, from 8 AM to 10 PM.

I’m pretty sure I predicted this would happen. As a matter of a fact I went back and read the post and sure enough, like my Yoshi-blade, I predicted it. So I’m gonna have to call and ask them if I get a refund for the “priority processing”. It’s only 9.95, but it’s 9.95 I could use. It saddens me that I was able to predict this.

Now I guess I’ll be pleasantly surprised when it comes in. From my experience with the Yoshi-blade, it showed up a week after I received the “back-ordered” email. This is such a ploy to steal your money. Also notice how they don’t tell you what time zone the hours are for in the email. Makes me wonder why I even order this stuff. It makes me wonder of the quality of the product. Although I admit the product itself probably has nothing to do with the shipment center or distribution company.

It's a Great Adventure!

Wow. My first “real” job was Six Flags Great Adventure. I think I started working there when I was 16. I couldn’t drive yet, because the driving age in New Jersey was 17 (it could still be, who knows). I started working there in food service, and wow, was I in for an incredible experience.

Working food service at an amusement park is busy. It’s HARD. I’m sure people who work in McD’s or Burger King have it tough. I’m sure they have rushes and it’s gotta suck a lot. But I Really don’t know if it can compare to my experience. First of all, as a cashier, you have to deal with guests to the park. They’ve been waiting in line for a LONG time. It’s like this constantly. It’s crazy!

If you work as the one doing the cooking, it’s like taking a break. You never want to be cashier. I remember we actually had people who preferred it over cooking.

I worked in a stand which I’m not sure is still there. It was called “International Food Fair” and it had 5 different rooms with different types of food. Spaghetti room (Italian), Gyro room (greek), Funnel Cakes (Sweden?), Sausage Room (German), and the Roast Beef room (I think this was USA LOL).

That was my first food stand I worked at. When I got promoted to assistant manager, I was assistant manager there, and later moved to Employee Dining. I eventually became Manager of a Waffle cone, which was basically Ice cream with fresh waffle cones. Yes, we made those ourselves. My fingertips are still recovering to this day. It was horrible because it was right across from kiddie land. You guessed it, we were BUSY. Good times.

I think I worked there for nearly 5 years. When I first started, I believe I made 5 bucks an hour. That was a lot of money back then in 1985. Wow. Maybe I’ll blog more about this experience. Not sure. It was a long time ago, I don’t know if I can remember everything. LOL

The Cataclysm is nigh!

Well, at least in World of Warcraft the Cataclysm is nigh. In only about 7 hours, the long awaited new expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be released and available to play. For those of us like me who are die hard WoW fans, and bought the Collector’s Edition, I will not be able to play until tomorrow, when it arrives at my doorstep via Fedex. However for those like Katie, they will be able to play at midnight, since they have already downloaded the content and are ready to play. I’m sure I will hear all about it, since she has already stated so.

In other news you’ll be able to play Bejeweled 3 as well tomorrow, which is another long awaited sequel. I know you’re addicted just like me. Don’t try to deny it.

What’s your game?

As seen on TV madness!

Ok, if you’ve been coming here pretty often, or you just plain know me, I’m a total “As Seen on TV” junkie. I just have to buy stuff for the sake of buying it sometimes. But deep in my mind, I have a use for the product I decide to buy, and so I get it. Never mind that I might only use the product once, it was a good buy. I mean, 19.95?? Wow! But Seriously, I know the little tricks and silly things they do to get you to buy one.

Anyways…

I ordered a Ninja Kitchen System today. You might remember I was on the fence about getting one. Well, after very little thought and no one Really telling me I shouldn’t get it, I decided to just go for it and  buy one. You’ll find a review for it soon enough. I was a bit wary of the “free shipping” since that’s usually where they make the money. But at $159.80 (or 4 payments of $39.95) I think they’re doing ok. I went for the lump sum payment. The only reason I do that is because when they do have payments, they have a processing fee (which isn’t shipping!) and it all adds up anyways. While checking out, they do throw a million add-ons at you which you probably don’t need. Like a second Ninja Kitchen System for $79.95. But I just couldn’t see my mom using it very much. I did order priority processing and it said “get it in 5-7 days!” I decided to get it since it was $9.95 and wasn’t so bad, even if it was technically a “shipping” cost. I suspect that it means the blender will be sent within 5-7 days (without telling me it’s back-ordered like my Yoshi-blade) and then it will get here using the slowest and cheapest shipping possible. Probably UPS ground, as they are often cheaper than even the US Post Office sometimes. We will see within 5 to 7 days what happens. I would be pleasantly surprised if I actually received it on my doorstep in such time.

On top of all this I also ordered the Wonder File. Perhaps you’ve seen the commercials. If you haven’t, you can watch it after the bump. This just looks too cool to pass up. I need a decent organization system and this could be it. You get 2 for the price of 1 essentially. Here’s a good example of when they rape you on shipping and handling. While the Wonder File costs $19.95, S&H will cost you $13.98. That’s almost as much as you are paying for the product! Something to consider when you decide to buy this product. I’ll review this as well and let everyone know how it turns out.

I just want to add that no one is paying me to talk about these products. I will gladly talk about them and review them (bad and good) if you pay me. All this is coming out of my pocket!

So what products have you bought recently from the internet? Are you a junkie like me?
