The shows I like get cancelled

Have you ever had what you thought was a pretty good TV show, but instead it got cancelled for some reason? Well looking at the image to the left, Kindred: The Embraced was cancelled, but could have been revived if one of the actors who played a main character had not died.

I try not to like a show too much. I don’t put any faith in any new shows, because I know they can get cancelled at the drop of a hat. What can you do about that?

Not all shows are cancelled because of low ratings either. Take into account Eureka, which was pretty much cancelled because Syfy decided it just plain too costly to make. I can respect that decision. But let’s cancel the other stupid projects and crap that Syfy has before they decide to cancel one of their best shows in their history of shows. (that’s only my opinion, that might not even be everyone’s opinion.)

Meanwhile, reality TV shows are taking over the TV lineup. Let’s keep pumping these out to make entertaining TV because “real life” is better. Too bad that “real life” is just the producers of the show trying to dramatize things to make it more interesting. I mean Seriously, do something drastic and incredible happen to celebrities every day? I don’t think so. They film these shows over a long period of time and add interesting stuff or just edit things so that it gets exciting. Sorry folks, that’s not real life, that’s just TV.

I just wish the TV shows that I like didn’t have to suffer because their ratings did so bad for one or two episodes. I mean let’s change the rating system already. Let’s take in more factors! Let’s do something about this! Can’t we just make a petition or something? Oh wait. That’s been done so many times without success.

So, what TV have been cancelled on you?

Anticipating Autumn: The best time of the year

I’m Really looking forward to spending time with my wife for my birthday. So many things have been going on in our lives and we just haven’t had much time for ourselves.

I’m not entirely sure what we’ll do. Since I know it’ll be cold, I think the Oregon coastline and a tour of a few lighthouses is out. Unless we want to go ahead and torture ourselves.

I love Autumn. Not because my birthday is in the Autumn, but because this is the time of year when things can slow down. We can take a deep breath and enjoy the cooler weather.

It’s also the time of my favorite holiday, Halloween! We’ve gotta carve pumpkins this year! If we do, I’ll be sure to take pics.

Google+ is NOT Facebook

Ok, with all these new and great (still debatable) changes to Facebook, it seems like it’s going to overcome Google+. Well, whatever the original intent of Google+, at this point, unless they make a drastic change, they will be beaten down.

But it’s like comparing Apples and Oranges. They’re both fruits, but are distinctly different. Let’s just get that straight. I personally cannot understand what people are thinking. Of course, it’s because your friends are saying “oh em gee, the new facebook blows! I’m going to G+”.

Well, here’s my interpretation of what Google+ is:

Google+ is not about friends. It’s about interests. You don’t have friends in G+. You circle people and put them into a circle called friends. You share the same interests. In this case it would namely be you. With circles, you can share the same interest, such as Photography. You can put all your photographer friends in there, as well as the photographers you admire. You can post photography topics within your photography circle. Are you getting it yet? It’s not about friends. It’s about interests. Seriously.

So please stop comparing the two. Can’t they co-exist? Like Twitter and Facebook? Why can’t G+ be the Twitter killer? Or the new Facebook be the Twitter killer? Did this make sense?

Cake or pie?

This post is courtesy of Plinky.

So I think I have to say that Pies are my favorite over cake. With cake, there’s an issue with the texture. I’m not sure what it is. Don’t get me wrong. I love cake, I Really do. But if I had a choice where I didn’t have to eat it? I wouldn’t. If I had a choice to choose a pie instead, well pie definitely wins hands down.

If I could eat a certain flavor of pie, then I might say my favorite could be Cherry Pie. No, this doesn’t have anything to do with my obsession with Twin Peaks. Although, my obsessions with pie could originate from Special Agent Dale Cooper!

I leave you with this poll. You choose! Then feel free to explain your choice in the comments. What kind of pie? What kind of cake?

Recent study says Dialysis 3 times a week not enough

My view at Dialysis

A recent study is saying that receiving Dialysis 3 times a week may not be enough. A link here to the Forbes article. So what they’re saying is simple. Because every rotation involves a 2 day hiatus from Dialysis, that 3rd day (Monday or Tuesday) is the most dangerous day. As an ex-Dialysis patient, I have to say there might some credibility in this.

On the third day, which in my case was Tuesday, I felt the worst. It was the worst day of the week. My Dialysis schedule started at 5:30pm. So I had the entire day to go through before I received any treatment. That Tuesday was total hell, I have to admit.

Anyone who undergoes Dialysis knows how it feels. You’re at the point of kidney failure. That means you don’t produce urine. Now this may sound great, since you’ve only got to go bathroom when you have to poop. But honestly, you miss it mainly because you realize just how much it means to pee. Peeing gets rid of your toxins in your body and if you can’t pee, that means the toxins (that’s poison BTW) just accumulates in your body and well, it makes you feel like shit.

So think about it. That third day would have to be the absolute worst day of the week, right? I can go with this study then. But I have to agree with Dr. Paul Eggers. There should be more studying done. One study doesn’t mean it’s true. But honestly, how many people have to suffer before a determination is made?
