True Blood Season 4 Finale (yes, spoilers)

So here comes my obligatory review of the Season Finale of True Blood season 4. They are renewed for season 5 right? Because honestly, after all that’s happened? It seems like Alan Ball just about fucked it all up. Seriously now.

So, here’s the warning that there are spoilers after the bump. If you don’t want to know, or have not seen the finale, then don’t keep reading. This means I’m going to pretty much tell you everything about the finale. So stop reading at this point.

For extra fun, I’ve included this poll about vampires and the sun…

Should vampires sparkle in the sun or burst into flames?

I’m going to put it all in bullet mode because honestly, I think I just want to point out everything I liked and didn’t like about this episode:

  1. Jesus gets killed by Marnie. OK, I was bummed. This sucked. I Really hope that they keep him in the show as a sort of spirit guide for Lafayette. It seemed to kinda hint that at the end of the episode when Jesus said “I’m dead, you’re a medium. I’ll always be with you.” Or something like that. I’m paraphrasing. But dammit, he was someone I liked. To kill him off was sorely disappointing.
  2. Marnie. OMG Really? I’m so over this storyline. Sorely disappointed they didn’t adapt the story of the were witches on vampire blood. Yeah, I missed the Hallow storyline in this. But thank goodness this is over now. I liked seeing Gran too at the end.
  3. Jessica and Jason and Hoyt. Hmm. I’m not sure how I feel about this story. They Really need to do something with Hoyt. Jessica is good, I’m not sure where they’re going with her story, but I think I like it. As for Jason, I’m severely disappointed that he’s not a were-panther. I Really liked that.
  4. Sam. They Really messed up Sam. I think I’m disappointed the most in his storyline. I don’t like his whole family storyline. At all. I understand it’s got drama and it’s all interesting, but honestly, they Really should have made his brother less of an asshole and a bit smarter. I won’t even mention the fact that the latest short story is about Sam and Sookie going to his brother’s wedding. Oops, I mentioned it.
  5. Pam and Sookie. I don’t like this AT ALL. If nothing else, why destroy the relationships that have been solid throughout the books? Pam and Sookie are like best girls! Pam has said that if anyone was a friend, it was Sookie. I’m just annoyed by this. Severely.
  6. Sookie and her faerie powers. No. No no no no no. No. NO.
  7. Sookie forgives Vampire (King) Bill. This isn’t so bad. I know Meesh doesn’t like it and I understand, I do. But they’ve fucked up enough of the story where to me, this means, whatev’s.
  8. Terry Bellfleur and Arlene. I have no idea where they’re going with this story, but I don’t know if I’m gonna like it. I like Terry as the freaky guy as it is. There’s no need to add anything supernatural (which I’m suspecting they do) or bring up some PTSD story. *yawn*
  9. Nan Flanagan. OMG. Thank God. Seriously. This story has run its course. I’m tired of hearing about the AVL and all that crap. The whole storyline stinks. The only thing I find interesting about it is the Authority. Who is it? That’s about all I’d Really love to know. Does anyone know? Did I miss who it is or is it a council of vampires? I was thinking it would be cool if it was Dracula or something.
  10. Russell Edgington. Ooh. I think I kinda like this. Russell added some flavor to the whole vampire story. Awesome unless they Totally fuck this up, like they’ve fucked everything else up.
  11. Debbie Pelt. Thank God this is over. The only problem I have is the wrong person stood in front of Sookie as she shot her! Poor Tara was nowhere near that area. And if Sookie is so distraught, where are Vampire Bill and Eric? Holy crap, they’re like just across the cemetery! Eric could have easily been there before Tara had a chance to jump in front of Sookie. Lame. No!

So, did I miss anything? Seriously, this finale was full of more disappointments than anything else. I think Marnie’s quote summed up this episode: “This fucking sucks!”
