No tweets lately?

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve stopped publishing my Twitter feed at the bottom of the page. This is due for a few reasons, mostly because I want to start reducing the amount of “stuff” I am displaying on this site. I’m trying to get a redesign going for the upcoming Blogathon, and I want to streamline what’s going to be shown on the new design. It’s a lot of work you know. Yes, I am doing the Blogathon this year, and yes, I have some ideas. Apparently the organizers are changing. But that’s another post.

Regardless, I haven’t really been tweeting much either. It’s not because of Twitter, or because I am too bored of it. Honestly, it’s mainly been because I’ve just been forgetting to go to the website. Normally I use twhirl, and well, it’s been acting really strange as of late, and it’s not running well. It keeps acting all wonky, and I’m not sure if I should blame it on the app or blame it on Adobe AIR. Who knows, regardless, it’s not working well, and I just plain have not been using it at all, which makes me ignore Twitter. Perhaps I’ll start using it again and get back onto Twitter. Especially since Jules is back to using it.

What program (if any) do you use to keep track of your Twitter updates?

Upgraded

WordpressOk, so I just decided to go ahead and upgrade to Wordpress 2.5. Yeah, I know. Usually I’d wait at least until a point release, but this time I just wanted to get going and upgrade it already. Fantastico takes forever to upgrade, so I’m not waiting for them on this website. (I’ll wait to upgrade my other websites when Fantastico updates. It’s not too important right now for them to be upgraded)

Anyways, there are some features I like. For instance, you can insert a youtube video now just by inserting the URL. Pretty slick, I must say. No plugin needed there. (although I have to keep the plugin for my old videos. Either that or edit all my old posts!) Another thing that’s not bad is the full screen mode to enter a post. I thought this was kinda funny, since ExpressionEngine 2.0 has the same feature. I guess they had the same thoughts. Who knows. Also, the media gallery thing is pretty nice. You can upload multiple images for a post, then have them show up in a gallery within that post. Pretty neat if I may say so myself.

There are numerous other features, but honestly. If you want to see them you’re gonna have to upgrade.  Have you upgraded yet?

Um, Yoshi, where’s the ramen?

Ok, as you might now notice, I have changed the theme away from Mt. Rainier and white background and instead changed it to a theme I call “Dark Nights”. Don’t ask me why I call it that. Probably because when I took the picture of my powerbook, it was at night in my old apartment. (Yes, that Mac is my powerbook)

Long time readers will recognize this as an older layout I had. I just simply love this look, so I converted it from the EE version to the WP theme.

If you liked the other version, I’m sorry, but this is preferable. You’ll notice the “sidebar” is below the entries, of which I only show 5 now. I’m sure all this interests you.

As for the ramen, sorry, I was going to make a ramen theme, but instead this is what I got.

What do you think?

New Theme up and more

As I said before it’s nothing exciting. If you don’t like it, tell me, I might listen to you. If you like it, then rave on! Hehe.

Anyways, there’s quite a bit of new I could talk about, but today, I just don’t feel like talking about it. So this post is just about nothing really except for the new look.

New design coming soon.

I know that this theme isn’t all that. It’s pretty decent, being K2, but I guess I just wanna make something a little more streamlined and possibly better appealing to the eye. I am looking at the minimalistic look, so don’t expect much. Just wanted to let people know that things might look a bit differently around here in a few days.

HTML Validation

Ok, so because of the various plugins I have installed on this site, I don’t exactly have control of everything that is outputted on this site. (i.e. HTML validation) I could fix it, but I would have to hack the plugins, and every time it was updated, I would have to hack it again, unless the original author fixed the issue. Anyways, after passing this site through the HTML validator, my site is not quite XHTML transitional. The problems are fixable, however.

My question is here really is simple: Does it really matter? I mean seriously. Does it look ok? If it does, does it really matter?

New theme

As you might have noticed, I’ve finally gotten done with the new theme. You might even notice that I’ve gotten rid of the sidebar. Yeah that’s right, it’s not there. But don’t worry, I have plans for that for later. I just wanted to get this up and running.

So what do you think of the new look? It’s pretty boring I know, but I’m minimalistic like that, and I like simple.

Also, please everyone don’t forget about fembat, and please if everyone donated even $1, that could be quite a bit of money! Feel free to Save Fembat today!

Just because I can

I have too many projects. seriously. So right now I’m testing out a new plugin. So far it works incredibly well. A very good piece of work. I haven’t looked at the code yet because I just don’t want to mess with it . Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. Anyways, if you do notice anything different on the site, please let me know.

I know this is a post that should be on pd-x: ee-blog but I’m testing it here right now.

I have plans for the vox module/extension, and I plan on instead making it a generic crossposting via moblogging module/extension. The idea is simple, a lot of people have a lot of blogging sites. But they just can’t keep up with them all. So why should you, when you can just crosspost. :) Obviously, if you want intense crossposting, then you’ll want something like LJCME (Live Journal Crossposter Module/Extension)

But if you want simple crossposting via moblogging methods, then this is a sure shot easy way to get running. Now the idea is to have time to get this rolling. Whew! I need more time. I’m also in process of thinking of a new theme for this site too. Will the projects never end for me? And to think, these are only personal projects!

Wait, did I type that right?

You may or may not have noticed that the URL now says: haroyoshi.com. No, this is not a case of mistaken identity, nor is it a case of mispelling “hello”. It’s exactly the way it’s meant to be. :)

I know, you’re confused.

For those of you who don’t already know (or have wondered), the reason my site is named “hello! yoshi” is beacause of Japanese Pop Culture. In Japan, there is a TV show called “Hello! Morning”. Here’s the synopsis from Wikipedia:

Hello! Morning is a weekly Japanese TV show featuring members of Hello! Project on TV Tokyo. It is also known by the shorter name of Haro Moni.

Since I’m a great fan of Morning Musume (Pretty much the flagship JPop group of Hello! Project), this website is called Hello! Yoshi and is nicknamed to Haro Yoshi (keeping with the Hello! Morning format).

While this may seem odd or unusual to you, it’s something that seems to make sense to me. :) If you must, just go ahead and dismiss this as a Japanese “quirk” if you will.

You can feel free to update your bookmarks, but helloyoshi.net will continue to work just fine. Happy days!
