I’ve completed New Moon, the 2nd book in the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer. There are spoilers beyond the bump, so if you haven’t read them (who hasn’t, right?) and don’t want to get any spoilers, don’t go beyond!
Ok, so I finally got around to finishing the book. It was a pretty easy read and I’m almost glad I’m done with it so I can finally see the movie (no, I haven’t watched it yet) and to get to the other books. There are spoilers here so I will tell you to stop reading unless you have no intentions of reading the book ever and just want to spoil it all. I will at least tell you that I give it a 4 out of 5 stars, and if you’re into urban fantasy type books, then you should probably read this book.
So after Meesh has now completed reading all the books in the Twilight series, it’s now left to me to go ahead and read them. Because I’m such a purist sometimes, I have to note that I still have not seen the movie. But the previews for the next movie peaked my interest. If there’s anything I love more than vampire stories, it stories about vampires with werewolves.
I’d say I’m about 1/4 of the way into the book so far. I have to admit it’s a really easy read, and I’m sure it’s because it’s got teens as the target audience.
Please, no spoilers or anything, I just wanted to actually confirm that I’m really reading the books, since not everyone believes me sometimes. LOL
As most or all of you might know, my dear friend Tiggerprr’s (Ammy) husband (Ken Theobald) just recently passed away. Surviving him are my friend and 3 of their children. Times are tough. Medical bills pile up. They could use your help. Without Ken, they now have no benefits, and must pay out of pocket for their medical expenses. Let’s not forget about food and housing. I know times are tough for everyone. But it’s harder for them. Please find it in your heart to give even a $1 to help them out. If all my visitors donated a $1, then she’d receive $5 but that’s besides the point.
Honestly though, all joking aside, they could really use the help. Please use the donate button on the right sidebar to give whatever you can give. Please spread the word as well. Feel free to link to this post or to the donate button. Please help out!
Boss
So my other japanese dorama of the season has got to be BOSS. It stars Amami Yuki and Takenouchi Yutaka. Both are definitely favorite actors of mine. I’ll watch a dorama only because they’re in it. I know my mom is a HUGE Takenouchi fan, and I always give her a hard time about her “boyfriend” being in a new show. It’s all fun.
BOSS is about a “failed” detective (Amami Yuki) that goes to America to learn police techniques from the FBI. When she comes back, she finds her team is generally a bunch of rag tag members, and are not really wanted by other departments. Surprisingly enough, she makes things work and becomes a pretty good leader. This dorama is nothing majorly good, but it’s entertaining for the amount of time that it is on. I do recommend watching it though if you like the actors.
Ok, so the season finale of Hell’s Kitchen is now complete and once again I’m surprised by the results. Sorry no spoilers here since some of you haven’t seen the final episode yet (*cough* ocB).
However, I was pleased to see that past winners of Hell’s Kitchen did make it to the finale and a Hell’s Kitchen wall of winners. That was pretty cool. Spoilers after the bump.
Region restricting games – ridiculous!
cybr is having an issue with Valve and Steam. He purchased the Orange Box when he lived in Hong Kong, and back then, there was no indication that the game would not work anywhere outside of Hong Kong. Some people out there would say that he probably missed it or he didn’t find out if that was the case. However, if you say so, you don’t know cybr. He’s pretty anal about that stuff. He’s very meticulous when it comes to a lot of things not working. So I don’t doubt that the box didn’t have any indications that it was region specific.
Please help him out by making more people aware that the support at Valve and Steam are trying to get paid twice for a game. Please digg his story by digging it here. I just want to make people aware that Valve isn’t even trying to help him out. This may make me not ever buy a valve game again.
Ikemen Boogie
I always listen to music to cheer me up or to make me in a better mood. So I thought I’d share a song that always lifts me up and puts me in a good mood. It’s from a Japanese dorama called Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Ikemen Paradise). It’s a dorama where Horikita Maki poses as a boy to go to an all boys school. Similar to She’s the Man with Amanda Bynes. The song is called Ikemen Boogie.
Shiroi Haru
So this spring season of Japanese television, my choice of dorama is definitely Shiroi Haru with Abe Hiroshi. It’s a real touching story about a man who commits murder and goes to jail, so his girlfriend can get the money to cure her illness. In the end, he finds that she passed away instead and wondering what happened to his money, he finds out more than he probably cared to know. Without giving too much of the story away, this story is very touching. Although he did kill a man, Haruo (Abe Hiroshi) is not an evil man. He committed the murder out of need to help his girlfriend and sacrifice so she could find a better life. I’m really loving the story myself. It’s just incredible.
Ok, so one of the next movies I think I might either have to check out or possibly could miss is Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell. I’m a real big fan of the original show, and I totally loved it. It just seems that they’re really changing the story and I’m not sure how I feel about that just yet. It certainly looks really funny and pretty good. But as we all know, looks can sometimes be deceiving, especially when it comes to Will Ferrell movies. Trailer video after the bump.
