Happy Independence Day

American FlagWell, this is the first Independence Day as a US Citizen. Wow, how sweet that is. Anyways, I wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe July 4th. If you’re setting off fireworks, please don’t be as careless as me and my friends and have a 3inch mortar explode right in front of you in the front lawn. LOL That was a crazy time. No, no one was hurt. But fun to talk about.

Happy July 4th!

Fire Season

Every year in Washington State, we have fire season. It’s pretty much the same as in California or any area where it always catches fire in the mountains. The eastern side of Washington is primarily desert, and there’s plenty of brown everywhere. It’s very dry (as opposed to here!) and the mountainous areas catch on fire very easily.

Meesh has been asked to go out to Wenatchee, WA, where there is one fire dispatch center. Luckily, she’ll be working in an office environment with Air Conditioning, calling fire crews and coordinating all the fire efforts. It’s a pretty crazy job, since there are so many fires. While the fires are not so bad this year (or so I hear), it’s still bad enough to where they need the help to call and coordinate. Oh, and did I mention the days are long, but the pay is pretty good? Still she’s not here, so it’s pretty quiet around here.

Oh, and you know how I mentioned that she’s in an office environment? One year she went, they were in the middle of nowhere, with tents and it was very hot. Very, very hot. So yeah, this is nice compared to what it could be like. The weather forecast for Wenatchee today said it was going to be 95. Whew. I don’t think it’s going to be 80 here in Olympia today.

Happy (belated) Anniversary

Yes, yesterday was our 3rd Anniversary. And I’m going to tell you a funny story about that.

First a bit of background. I’m sure you already knew this if you’ve read any past posts, but I do a lot of mixing up of words. So yesterday, we actually went and had lunch (at McDonald’s, it’s fast and Meesh only has a half hour), which was crazy busy. But what can you expect at lunch time.

I went to drop Meesh off at work and I said “Happy Graduation”. I’m like “WTF?” Uh, Happy Anniversary! Ok, so maybe it’s not so funny, but just knowing that I mix up words and substitute others it just makes perfect sense. Meesh had a good laugh at that.

New Wearable Feedbags Let Americans Eat More, Move Less

Ok, so my friend Brian sent this to me, and it’s just freaking hilarious. It makes me laugh just a little bit. I think this is just plain awesome!

[edit] made the video show up after the bump because it autostarts and I hate that.

TGIF

Ate some White Castles for lunch, it’s Friday the 13th, and the day is nice. It doesn’t get any better than this. Well, I guess there could be a real White Castles around here. Unfortunately, I have to settle for frozen ones. But they’re still awesome.

Is the “Turn” coming soon?

I know a majority of my readers are probably not familiar with Kim Harrison, who I met when I went down to Portland. In her novels, she tells the story of the “Turn” which was when the supernatural creatures came “out of the closet” (so to speak) and announced that they were not in fact myth, but rather real. The cause of the Turn were some genetically enhanced tomatoes that became poisonous to humans, but not to witches and other supernatural creatures. Hence the “coming out of the closet”.

With all the hoopla with tomatoes in the news today, it really makes me wonder if Kim knew that eventually this day would come. Now everyone is holding the tomatoes and making sure everything is safe before serving them. How crazy is this?

The cat saga continues

So our cat is doing better. Her teeth are looking good, but now she’s been throwing up constantly. This is causing a big problem, because now she’s not getting any food. She’s not keeping down enough food to give her any nutrition. She hasn’t gone to the litterbox hardly at all, if at all. So Meesh brought her in for a stop at the vet, and they said she looks good blood work wise, so they don’t know why she’s throwing up.

What? No ideas? Wow. If you went to the doctor and you were throwing up constantly and they said you look good so they didn’t know why you were throwing up after every meal, would you accept that?

Yeah, don’t answer that.

So they fed her some different food to try out and she did good with that at the vet’s office for a couple hours. How frustrating!

Almost forgot

I’ve been so busy lately. I’ve been sick and running around helping my parents with moving into their new home.

Moving is such a pain. When we move someday to a new house, I hope to have all our “junk” gone and taken care of. I’m pretty sure I’ve collected so much stuff over the years, that a garage sale should give us some good cash. At least that’s my hope.

Anyway, I’m pretty tired now.
