Verification of the truth of the words of the Book of Counted Shadows…
So this year for my birthday/christmas gift, my mom got me an Amazon Kindle. Now I must say that it has not changed how I read books. I mean there are still special things like hidden short stories at the end of a book edition that I have to get. But I will tell you that wow, it’s Really awesome and easy to read.
As promised, the kindle reads exactly like a book, and it even auto advances the pages for you. (although the timing in this still needs some work.) Even if it didn’t advance the pages automatically for you, it’s still so very easy to flip to the next page. No more fumbling with the pages anymore. This also means you don’t have to actually hold the kindle too! No more worrying about how to hold down the pages while you eat. (which I do a lot)
The kindle is awesome. But what you have to watch out for is the price of books. Some books are priced very well, but newer books can be priced as high as a cheap hardcover. So you Really need to watch out. It’s so very easy to rack up the dollars when buying books! With one touch, you can just buy a book, just like that. Luckily, if you did make a mistake, you can unbuy a book as well, but be warned, as far as I know, you can only do this right after the purchase of a book.
If you’ve been in the market for a Kindle, I’d say go ahead and save up your money for one. But if you’re a cheap reader and don’t like to buy books in hardcover, don’t bother, since you might be paying more for a book in the end.
P.S. The title this time is from a book that’s within the story of another book. I just thought it was appropriate.
Yeah. I can fly.
So I was reading the news today and noticed this headline: Up to 50 Students exposed to HIV. First of all the headline is misleading because the issue is that up to 50 students MIGHT have been exposed to HIV. It seems to be more of a scare than anything else. I’m sure everyone in St. Louis I know probably knows a lot more than me, but wow, it’s still frightening. I mean it’s not like you can get HIV from someone just by touching them, or being around them. If that was the case, I’d have had AIDS or HIV long ago, since I’ve taken care of many people with HIV. They’re not disclosing who the person was, or how it could have been exposed, which I think is a good thing. But enough of that.
I haven’t posted in a while, and I guess I should at least make a lengthy post.
So today I was talking to ocb and she linked me to some sleepy time extra tea since I’ve been having problems sleeping and staying asleep. And we discovered a Really cool thing. Notice the “save 15% with Subscribe & Save”? How cool is that? You can subscribe to a grocery item and they will send to you every so many months. How cool is that people? Seriously now! Awesome!
Oh I know some of you are probably wondering what the hell I’m talking about with the title of this post. For those of you who didn’t see the movie Iron Man (and why haven’t you already OMG!) it’s one of my favorite lines in the movie. I loved that scene where he’s flying around in his lab and just says, “yeah. I can fly.” It just Totally reminds me of the old Robert Downey Jr. in his old films. Love it.
