As seen on TV addiction

Did I mention that I am addicted to anything “As seen on TV”? Yes, I am. I just recently purchased the Gyro Bowl and the Chef Basket. I seriously think I could use these products! I know that I still have the Ninja Kitchen System to review too. That’s still on it’s way, I want to use it a bit more. I’ve only mixed a couple things with it. I haven’t made any drinks yet though.

Anyways the Gyro Bowl is just a challenge to me. Also I’d like to point out that with my seriously horrible sense of balance, it’s very ideal for me. Even Meesh said that it was definitely for me. So we’ll see how that works out.

The Chef Basket looks to be something I would definitely use. I already have the steamers, and the strainers, but this looks like it could easily take all their places. Again, we’ll see how it goes.

So I’ve ordered these products maybe a couple weeks ago, so I’m expecting them to show up any day now. I hope to have a whole bunch of reviews!

Ninja KS 1100 update and mini review

Ok, I received my Ninja Kitchen System 1100 yesterday. It was a pleasant surprise, as I expected, and here are my first impressions without actually using it just yet.

Taking it out of the box was very easy and straightforward. It came with a quick start guide that shows you all the pieces which were all there and what they did. Very straightforward and very informative. Kudos to them. I read the full instructions, including the care and cleaning information. Yes, the Ninja accessories are machine washable. So that’s what I’m doing. I really don’t see how it wouldn’t be, unless the plastic parts melt in heated drying conditions. Luckily, I’m not a fan of the heated air dry and I don’t plan on testing it either. If someone has a Ninja KS system they’d wish to contribute to try it, I’ll do it then.

So there is the mini review. Right out of the box, it looks impressive and very big actually when you put the dough attachment on. I’m not really sure why you can’t have the dough attachment on all the time except to conserve space on your counter. (Like me) I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes they sent in the very thick cookbook I got days earlier. Full review to follow soon!

[UPDATE] You can find my full review here.

Ninja 1100 Kitchen System Backordered!

Remember when I decided to order the Ninja 1100 Kitchen System last week? Here’s the email I received today:

Due to a larger than expected response, the item(s) you ordered are temporarily out of stock. Please be advised that your order will ship once the merchandise is available. If you have any questions regarding this message, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1- 800-xxx-xxxx. Our Agents are available Monday through Saturday, from 8 AM to 10 PM.

I’m pretty sure I predicted this would happen. As a matter of a fact I went back and read the post and sure enough, like my Yoshi-blade, I predicted it. So I’m gonna have to call and ask them if I get a refund for the “priority processing”. It’s only 9.95, but it’s 9.95 I could use. It saddens me that I was able to predict this.

Now I guess I’ll be pleasantly surprised when it comes in. From my experience with the Yoshi-blade, it showed up a week after I received the “back-ordered” email. This is such a ploy to steal your money. Also notice how they don’t tell you what time zone the hours are for in the email. Makes me wonder why I even order this stuff. It makes me wonder of the quality of the product. Although I admit the product itself probably has nothing to do with the shipment center or distribution company.

As seen on TV madness!

Ok, if you’ve been coming here pretty often, or you just plain know me, I’m a total “As Seen on TV” junkie. I just have to buy stuff for the sake of buying it sometimes. But deep in my mind, I have a use for the product I decide to buy, and so I get it. Never mind that I might only use the product once, it was a good buy. I mean, 19.95?? Wow! But seriously, I know the little tricks and silly things they do to get you to buy one.

Anyways…

I ordered a Ninja Kitchen System today. You might remember I was on the fence about getting one. Well, after very little thought and no one really telling me I shouldn’t get it, I decided to just go for it and  buy one. You’ll find a review for it soon enough. I was a bit wary of the “free shipping” since that’s usually where they make the money. But at $159.80 (or 4 payments of $39.95) I think they’re doing ok. I went for the lump sum payment. The only reason I do that is because when they do have payments, they have a processing fee (which isn’t shipping!) and it all adds up anyways. While checking out, they do throw a million add-ons at you which you probably don’t need. Like a second Ninja Kitchen System for $79.95. But I just couldn’t see my mom using it very much. I did order priority processing and it said “get it in 5-7 days!” I decided to get it since it was $9.95 and wasn’t so bad, even if it was technically a “shipping” cost. I suspect that it means the blender will be sent within 5-7 days (without telling me it’s back-ordered like my Yoshi-blade) and then it will get here using the slowest and cheapest shipping possible. Probably UPS ground, as they are often cheaper than even the US Post Office sometimes. We will see within 5 to 7 days what happens. I would be pleasantly surprised if I actually received it on my doorstep in such time.

On top of all this I also ordered the Wonder File. Perhaps you’ve seen the commercials. If you haven’t, you can watch it after the bump. This just looks too cool to pass up. I need a decent organization system and this could be it. You get 2 for the price of 1 essentially. Here’s a good example of when they rape you on shipping and handling. While the Wonder File costs $19.95, S&H will cost you $13.98. That’s almost as much as you are paying for the product! Something to consider when you decide to buy this product. I’ll review this as well and let everyone know how it turns out.

I just want to add that no one is paying me to talk about these products. I will gladly talk about them and review them (bad and good) if you pay me. All this is coming out of my pocket!

So what products have you bought recently from the internet? Are you a junkie like me?

The Yoshiblade! yes, I own one.

Perhaps you seen the commercials or seen it on youtube. It’s the miraculous Yoshiblade! I must say if it has my name, it must be something else. So you know what? I had to buy one. I ordered it back in January for around 30 bucks. I receive 2 sets of blades and peelers. I gave one to my mom. Actually I haven’t asked her what she thought of it, and she hasn’t complained, so either she’s not using it because it sucks, forgot all about it, or it’s working great. You choose.

First of all, it took forever for it to arrive. After about 3 weeks, I received an email that said my order was back-ordered and there was no date of shipment. Luckily, the Yoshiblade did arrive about a couple weeks later. I’m sure that wasn’t a common occurance.

As for slicing and dicing, the knife is very sharp. It comes with a cover which is good, since most people (like me) like to keep their knives in a drawer. Of course, if I like a knife, then I store it carefully in another location such as a knife box or sleeve. But back to the Yoshiblade.

I love it so far. I’ve been using it for a couple months now, and I haven’t had any issues. I admit, however, the blade is a slicing blade. Don’t expect to do any big chopping with it. It’s not very heavy and is actually quite light. The handle is very nice. You can grip it and not worry about slipping, since it’s one of those grip feels similar to rubber and it’s feel.

Overall, I’d say it was a pretty good investment. The only thing I can say about it is the typical “As seen on TV” warnings of this: it might cost 19.99 but shipping and handling costs just as much if not more. Video after the bump.

Big Boss Grill – reviewed

I’m sure you’ve seen the Big Boss Grill. It’s basically the grill with interchangeable grilling plates, including an omelet, panini, griddle, and more. Of course, it does include a donut maker and a waffle iron. Pretty sweet. So, I decided to buy it. I haven’t regretted the decision. It’s so easy, and quick to make a lot of foods, although some of the recipes are a bit too simple in my opinion. They could really use some help on the recipes.

So far, we’ve managed to make waffles, meatloaf, burgers and plenty more just easily. Clean up is a jiffy with this grill since you only have to clean the grill and it’s not very big. Which I suppose could be the only drawback.

However, today, when I plugged it in, it didn’t work. I think this might be a fluke and not a normal occurrence. I called customer support and they said there’s really no way of troubleshooting it since the device is pretty simple and it should just work. I mean you plug it in and it goes. What could it possibly be? So they told me since I just bought it, they’ll just ship another one out and I just have to send the one we have back. It was pretty painless. Needless to say I was surprised. It’s probably just easier for them to do that anyways.

All in all, I’d say I’m very satisfied with the Big Boss Grill. I’m just such a junkie for the “as-seen-on-TV” stuff. I do have to say that the plates themselves are pretty light and feel kinda cheap. But it works (well, most of the time LOL) and that’s all that matters.
