Not much to say

It’s monday, I’ve got nothing to say right now. I’ve not been paying attention to the news or the blogosphere in the past few weeks, so it’s slim pickings for me to blog. I apologize now for the sparse posts I’ve had and probably will have in the future.

I totally forgot about FFAF too, and that saddens me. I’m just totally out of touch!

It’s almost Friday

Not that the days matter much nowadays for me being in recovery and all. I’m working since I work from home, but it’s not quite the same being drugged up on Percoset and programming. LOL Things just take longer because I have to quadruple check my work. Crazy but true.

Other than that, I was considering doing a Thursday Thirteen list, but honestly, you’d think it’d be easier to come up with 13 items to talk about. It’s just crazy, isn’t it? Katie gave me a good list theme, but I think I’ll save that for a rainy day when I decide to actually do the list.

Recovery is painful. But at least it’s recovery.

How long have you been blogging?

I was talking to Jules the other day and we were talking about RSS Feeds and Feedburner and all that crazy stuff that bloggers talk about. Then she says to me, “i hate this reader thing.  people should just comment and link like the old days.” I totally agree! I remember the old days when you would comment. Hell, I remember the days when there was no way of commenting on a post yet, and you just had a guestbook. Remember those days? Guestbooks were the bomb diggity back in the day.

But I digress.

But in the old days, you would just link to your favourite sites, and that’s how you expressed that you liked a site or you would just comment and that’s how people found your site and whatever. These are the days before SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and money making blogs and well when not just everyone had a blog. Nowadays, everyone has a blog. And there are different kind of bloggers too. I won’t list them all, since I don’t even know all of them that exist. But there are so many it’s not even funny. There are even Spamming bloggers, a.k.a. sploggers. Crazy isn’t it?

When I first started way back in whenever, it wasn’t even called blogging. It was just having a website, updating every now and then (sometimes weekly, sometimes daily) and just saying whatever. There were no such things as Blogger (which I started using way back in 2001 because everyone I talked to said I should use it), and wordpress or any other program that most people use nowadays. It was a website originally called “Psychodaisy’s Garden” where I put down my thoughts and links and had my guestbook (of course). Those were the old school days. Psychodaisy.com was finally created in 2001, but before that I was at the validus.com domain, which was sold for a pretty good amount of money. That domain was my first domain name, which I paid $100 for 2 years to register. That was when InterNIC was the only registrar. How times have changed!

Anyways, how long have you been blogging?

Also, today’s Mother’s day. Have you called your mom today? You better!

Because I update my OWN blog so much…

I thought I’d write here! Actually, I keep thinking of good things to write about but never actually write. It’s not writer’s block, I’m just a lazy ass. :(

I should get my blogging license taken away. But then what would the 5 people who read my blog do with the 3 seconds it takes to stop by and realize I haven’t said anything for days or weeks or months…?

I think I just have a case of the blogging blahs…

When bloggers meet

Melanie, me, MeeshSo yesterday, Meesh and I and couple friends went to the Mariners game (and yes, they won!) and had the pleasure of meeting Melanie to just chat and hang out at the Mitt. You can see the 3 of us were just hanging out there.

Sometimes it’s just so nice when you get to meet another blogger finally face to face. You then start wondering if they’re going to be exactly the way you envision them, and truth be told, Melanie is most likely exactly as you thought she is in person. She’s great! Now I just have to find more bloggers to meet in the Seattle/Portland area.

Are you going to be in this area? Let’s meet up!

Hey you lurkers!

I’ve been noticing a bunch of new people visiting this site. I just wanted to say hello! to those lurkers out there, and invite you to stop being a lurker, or even be a part time lurker and say hello once in a while.

I know that I’m quite the lurker on many blogs, and never say anything because there are so many regulars out there who comment all the time and such. But I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that any “regular” around here would welcome any lurkers. Unless you’re going to criticize everything I do. But that’s ok, everyone has a voice on my site. :D

You may also have noticed my password protected posts. (Ok, I only had one) Regulars usually get the password mailed to them. If you’re a lurker, you’ll never get to read those! I have to admit though, that it’s not always interesting, but you never know. Just saying.

What’s new Yoshi?

Ok, here’s a boring post where I talk about things I’ve added to the site recently. I know you’re cheering right now right?

You’ll notice I added a contact form to the site, this is for anyone who would like to get a hold of me, but for some reason do not have my email or forgot my email address. (or more likely, have not kept up with all my email address changes.)

You’ll also notice that I’ved added a new “Now Reading” widget on the sidebar that let’s you know what book I’m now reading, and any past books I’ve read and reviewed. It also shows you what books I’ve got stored up in my queue to read, which are a lot, but I only listed a few of them (for now).

I also started adding google ads. Although this might change. I’m just not sure yet. I’m also putting in Text Link Ads. I’m not sure my site is even popular enough to worry about it, but we’ll see in the upcoming months. I know a few people who are using it and if I got what they got, then my hosting would pay for itself. (which is a good thing folks)

Here’s the interactive portion. What plugins do you have installed? I think I might have too many of them, but I’m curious to see what everyone has installed. (again, I know.)

Switching to Wordpress

Ok, so I’ve been wanting to know, what are the wordpress plugins you can’t possibly live without? I know there are plenty of articles and posts about this, but I’d like to hear a fresh list of plugins that you must have in order for your wordpress site to rock.

So, give it to me please!

8 random facts

Ok, you know me, I don’t normally like to do memes. But, I’ve been tagged by The Foo, and it’s an opportunity have a post. And it’s not too bad.

Rules

Each player lists 8 random facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

My 8 random facts (in no particular order):

  1. I hate wet socks.
  2. I love ramen
  3. I have 2 laptops
  4. I’ve moved around quite a bit.
  5. I was in the Navy
  6. My favourite music is Trance/Techno
  7. I’m a diabetic
  8. My cat’s name is Precious

Tagged

I don’t know 8 people to tag, so here’s an incomplete list. I’m sure I’ll piss someone off with this list. Bwahahaha!

Tiggerprr’s Scratching Post
Kat Scratch Fever

Things change once again

Okay, you’ll notice it’s a different around here. I’ve changed the look, and yes, i’ve changed to Wordpress as well.

It’s an ongoing thing, you’ll have to bear with me. Regardless, things are new, I’m changing things around, but that doesn’t really mean I’m posting anything interesting.

(Of course, many will argue I never posted anything interesting anyways…)
