Linklist and ExpressionEngine
This is mainly for those people who are looking for any old plugins and modules I might have programmed. I no longer maintain and program these plugins and modules (such as linklist) since the release of ExpressionEngine 2.x. If you are having issues with anything I’ve programmed, please feel free to ask me about it and I’ll try to help you out with it. But know that I don’t plan on releasing anything new at this time. Unless someone convinces me I should make something. Sorry folks. Feel free to ask me any questions about linklist though. (and not questions about when the next version will be out.)
WordPress 3.0 and Expression Engine 2.0
I’m very happy to say that my WordPress sites are all upgraded to 3.0. But I have to admit that as a major point release, it doesn’t show much. I’m not saying there weren’t major upgrades, because there were. The merge of WordPress and WordPress MU is a major accomplishment. Kudos to the Automattic team for this. I’ve been waiting for this since I started using WordPress back in 1.2. However, it’s a disappointment that I will probably have to reinstall my WordPress on my websites to get it working the way I want. While this is not a big deal, it does pose this question:
WordPress 3.0 or ExpressionEngine 2.0?
I’ve gone and upgraded my license for EE 2.0 only because Leslie Camacho, President of Ellislab has said that the release of ExpressionEngine 2.1 is “near”. That’s very encouraging to me. So I’ve set up my test site and I’m familiarizing myself with all the new features of 2.0. There are some things I won’t really know how they turn out until I go live, (such as spam comments and how well EE 2 handles them), however it seems pretty encouraging.
The control panel for WP 3 is pretty much the same as 2. There are no real big surprises here. This is a good thing in my opinion. The control panel for EE 2 is very different from 1, but at the same time, very familiar to veterans of 1. I’d say there are improvements, and there are things that probably didn’t need to be changed. I have yet to explore a lot of the new version.
More to follow.
Oh the calamity
Apparently, in the news, recently an uncle is accused for felony injury and second degree murder of his 11 year old neice. He let his neice and nephew attempt to walk 10 miles in the snow to their parents house after their car got stuck in the snow. The police had mentioned drugs. I say drugs had to be involved because I don’t believe anyone in their right mind would ever let their children walk 10 miles anywhere, let alone through the snow! I really am sorry for the mother and the family. I think perhaps I should stop there and not talk more about that, lest I lose control.
In other news, I’d like to point out that I do actually run a couple other websites, including jCrap, and hello! Food. I know the food site hasn’t been updating as much as it should, but honestly, I’m thinking of running a new format and switching the site over to WordPress for ease of use. Everyone seems to think that wp is a lot easier to use (CP) than ExpressionEngine, I have no idea why.
Upgraded
Ok, so I just decided to go ahead and upgrade to WordPress 2.5. Yeah, I know. Usually I’d wait at least until a point release, but this time I just wanted to get going and upgrade it already. Fantastico takes forever to upgrade, so I’m not waiting for them on this website. (I’ll wait to upgrade my other websites when Fantastico updates. It’s not too important right now for them to be upgraded)
Anyways, there are some features I like. For instance, you can insert a youtube video now just by inserting the URL. Pretty slick, I must say. No plugin needed there. (although I have to keep the plugin for my old videos. Either that or edit all my old posts!) Another thing that’s not bad is the full screen mode to enter a post. I thought this was kinda funny, since ExpressionEngine 2.0 has the same feature. I guess they had the same thoughts. Who knows. Also, the media gallery thing is pretty nice. You can upload multiple images for a post, then have them show up in a gallery within that post. Pretty neat if I may say so myself.
There are numerous other features, but honestly. If you want to see them you’re gonna have to upgrade. Have you upgraded yet?

I have too many projects. Seriously. So right now I’m testing out a new plugin. So far it works incredibly well. A very good piece of work. I haven’t looked at the code yet because I just don’t want to mess with it . Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke. Anyways, if you do notice anything different on the site, please let me know.
I know this is a post that should be on pd-x: ee-blog but I’m testing it here right now.
I have plans for the vox module/extension, and I plan on instead making it a generic crossposting via moblogging module/extension. The idea is simple, a lot of people have a lot of blogging sites. But they just can’t keep up with them all. So why should you, when you can just crosspost. :) Obviously, if you want intense crossposting, then you’ll want something like LJCME (Live Journal Crossposter Module/Extension)
But if you want simple crossposting via moblogging methods, then this is a sure shot easy way to get running. Now the idea is to have time to get this rolling. Whew! I need more time. I’m also in process of thinking of a new theme for this site too. Will the projects never end for me? And to think, these are only personal projects!
