I ain't Superstitious

Yoshi is still recuperating from his bad luck streak. But he’s not really superstitious. Or so he says.

I’m not 100% superstitious. But I do have to say that being raised by a very superstitious mother had it’s influences. I don’t care about walking under ladders, the number 13 (although I admit I feel lucky about that number instead of unlucky – sometimes), or breaking any mirrors. I don’t believe in that.

However, I do avoid going out on Friday the 13th. It just seems like so many bad things that have happened to me happened on that day. That’s the only reason. Granted, it could be coincidence or it could just be I remember those times only because it’s a prominent day. I also am wary of black cats too. I have no idea what it is about black cats, I feel like they’re always watching me. Something about that is just so creepy.

All in all, I have to admit that superstitions might rule my life, but I really hate to admit it. I’m not sure how many times I’ve said, “don’t do that! That’s bad luck!”

100 Facts in 100 Days – Fact 35

35. Okay, I’ll admit it, I’m an ABBA fan. This may cause a lot of people to unfriend me on various social networks, but I gotta admit I love a lot of their songs.

In particular, I think I love the song Chiquitita. I <3 this song! I have no idea why. I think it stems from Japanese Dorama believe it or not. Let me explain.

If you watch or heard about Japanese Dorama at all, you might have heard of the drama Strawberry on the Shortcake. It was shortened to S.O.S., and I am pretty sure that’s why it had all the ABBA songs. This dorama stars Takizawa Hideaki and Fukada Kyoko. Basically the dorama is a story of unrequited love. It’s perhaps one of the most favorite dorama I’ve ever watched.

In the dorama, they use songs such as Chiquitita, S.O.S. and others, though those two are the predominant songs. And this may have led to my super obsession over ABBA songs. I’m pretty sure, however, that I liked ABBA long before that.

How many ABBA fans are out there? I’d love to know how many of you there are, and what’s your favorite song?

Boss

So my other japanese dorama of the season has got to be BOSS. It stars Amami Yuki and Takenouchi Yutaka. Both are definitely favorite actors of mine. I’ll watch a dorama only because they’re in it. I know my mom is a HUGE Takenouchi fan, and I always give her a hard time about her “boyfriend” being in a new show. It’s all fun.

BOSS is about a “failed” detective (Amami Yuki) that goes to America to learn police techniques from the FBI. When she comes back, she finds her team is generally a bunch of rag tag members, and are not really wanted by other departments. Surprisingly enough, she makes things work and becomes a pretty good leader. This dorama is nothing majorly good, but it’s entertaining for the amount of time that it is on. I do recommend watching it though if you like the actors.

Shiroi Haru

So this spring season of Japanese television, my choice of dorama is definitely Shiroi Haru with Abe Hiroshi. It’s a real touching story about a man who commits murder and goes to jail, so his girlfriend can get the money to cure her illness. In the end, he finds that she passed away instead and wondering what happened to his money, he finds out more than he probably cared to know. Without giving too much of the story away, this story is very touching. Although he did kill a man, Haruo (Abe Hiroshi) is not an evil man. He committed the murder out of need to help his girlfriend and sacrifice so she could find a better life. I’m really loving the story myself. It’s just incredible.

Hanazakari no Kimitachi e

Do what? Hana-what? Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. It’s the title of a Japanese Dorama I’m currently watching. It basically translates to “For You in Full Blossom”. Yeah, I know it doesn’t really make sense but it’s a literal translation. It’s bascially about this girl who lives goes to an all-boy high school in japan, to stay with an athlete she comes to idolize and realizes she loves. The girl in question is portrayed by Horikita Maki. I love watching this particular dorama because I’m totally in love with high shcool doramas. Possibly because I didn’t get to go to to high school in a japanese school I suppose.

I know, the story sounds familiar right? There have been so many of these stories. One of my favourites is still “She’s the Man” with Amanda Bynes. I’m just an Amanda Bynes fan, what can I say? Anyways, back to Hana Kimi (the shorter much better nickname of this drama).

Honestly, how can these movies/shows be believable. Especially if they live together in the same dorm room, as is done in this show. I mean, if you just LOOKED at the “guy”, you could probably tell that he was really a she. There are things that you would notice wouldn’t you? What do you think? Is it possible for girls to pose as guys in high school?
