Ok, so one of the next movies I think I might either have to check out or possibly could miss is Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell. I’m a real big fan of the original show, and I totally loved it. It just seems that they’re really changing the story and I’m not sure how I feel about that just yet. It certainly looks really funny and pretty good. But as we all know, looks can sometimes be deceiving, especially when it comes to Will Ferrell movies. Trailer video after the bump.

Ok, I have to admit as a somewhat Trekker, I was opposed to having another movie of star trek. As much as I’d love that JJ Abrams wanted to do it, I just didn’t think we needed another Star Trek movie. On top of all that he wanted to do a film with Kirk and the original cast. Let them die already! But that was before I actually saw the new movie. All I can say is one word:

Wow.

The special effects were awesome. Of course. There was only one problem I had with a lot of the action scenes, and it was that they were just a bit too fast, and confusing. You couldn’t see what was really going on and you had the idea, but not exactly what was going on. Perhaps this is the effect they wanted, who knows. Perhaps I am just getting old. That’s the only thing I have to say about the action.

As for the story, I think I might have to agree with George Martin that it’s a bit flimsy. (well he didn’t say that exactly, but I’m with him about the story) The continuity was rather non existant, but in a way, the writers explained this, which I put in the same league as Dallas and everything was just a dream scenario. (of course, the movie is not a dream. no spoilers here, but i’m just saying the story is so similar.)

The actors I thought were the only saving grace. I loved them. Love love loved them. I thought Karl Urban did a phenomenal job as Bones. I think even DeForest Kelley would say bravo to his performance. However, I recall what Meesh was saying of some of them, it almost seemed like they were making fun of the original actors. I can see that too, but luckily Chris Pine was pretty damn good as Kirk. I didn’t think he overacted or anything. I thought he did an excellent job. IMHO, I think Simon Pegg might have taken it too much with Scotty, but as Meesh pointed out, sometimes Scotty is a bit over the top. LOL So true. I just wanna say that Zachary Quinto was pretty damn awesome as Spock and it was oh so refreshing to see him as something that wasn’t Sylar. (Meesh even overheard a guy saying that after the movie too)

All in all, I think everyone will either love this movie or hate this movie. I think diehard Trek fans will discount this movie. But that’s just me. Meanwhile I highly recommend this movie. We did see it IMAX, which made it even better perhaps.

Ok, so today, we made plans to go watch Star Trek in IMAX. Unfortunately, we got there too late and the showing we went to go see was sold out. So instead, we bought tickets to go see it tomorrow at 1:10pm. There’s no way we’re having the sold out issue tomorrow.

So we decided to go see Wolverine tonight. Oh. My. God. I love it. No spoilers or anything, but please make sure if you haven’t seen it already to at least wait till the credits go away to the end. Pretty slick. I’m sure a lot of people were really annoyed at Gambit or perhaps they were angry at the inconsistencies with the comics. But let’s remember that this is a different multiverse of the Marvel universe and not everything is the same as the comics.

I loved it. I thought deadpool was awesome, totally love Ryan Reynolds, and the role was perfect for him. I also thought Liev Schrieber was AWESOME as Sabretooth. All in all, I thought it was a pretty damn good movie. You’ve gotta go see it.

Star Trek mini review to follow.

It seems that I’ve chosen the fire thing as a theme lately trust me, this is not intentional.

As is usual, the title has nothing really to do with this post. Perhaps if there is a message, please cherish everything you have in life, and by god, all the little things make up all the big things. Cherish them all.

The other day, I was talking to Danalyn, as usual, and of course, she was working because she just works too much. Therefore I had to do her a favor and show her a pretty fun video. What it started out as was all the weird shit the Japanese people do on tv. There are other videos I found that I won’t link here because, eww, they were weird. I think I will never be the same again after watching those. And I don’t plan on it again. But there’s this one Japanese Celebrity who totally kills me, known as “Razor Ramon“. You can probably take a look at the wikipedia page I just linked, but honestly, you just can’t see how funny he is until you actually see him in action. Video after the bump. Hoooooooooo!!!

No I promise you that the title of this post has nothing to do with anything political or this post whatsoever. It just happens to be a quote I like from one of my favourite movies. See if you can guess who said and what movie it’s from. If you get it right you’ll get my eternal respect. Don’t cheat now.

So, while surfing the net, I came across this interesting thing, 18 shirts you should NOT wear to meet your girlfriends parents. I’ve got some good t-shirts, but these are definitely not the type to wear to meet the parents. I don’t think even I would wear those to Meesh’s parents house now. LOL There are a few t-shirts I’d like to have for myself, however: warcraft t-shirts (thanks cybr) and this one (thanks Jules).

I think I’ve managed to link pimp quite enough of people today.

Perhaps you’ve heard of the movie Shaolin Soccer. I know you’ve heard of Kung fu Hustle. Now, there’s Shaolin Girl. Shibasaki Kou stars in this one. The trailer is in Japanese, sorry about that, but the movie is Japanese. It’s not a Stephen Chow movie, instead he was consulted on this one. It’s not a sequel per se of Shaolin Soccer. But it looks very much like a Stephen Chow movie. Video after the bump.

With all the superhero type movies and such and action packed movies coming out this summer, I almost feel like a lot of folks are forgetting about Hellboy 2. If you weren’t aware of the sequel, this time Ron Perlman is back again as Hellboy and it looks like most of the roles are reprised. Doug Jones is playing Abe Sapien and Selma Blair is back as Liz. It looks pretty good. Guillermo del Toro is back again directing the movie so this is good. I know he won’t mess it up. Trailer is after the bump.
