Do you celebrate Halloween?

It’s come to my attention that Halloween is not always celebrated. I did not realize this. It Really comes as a shock to me since it’s such a fun holiday. Not to mention all the supernatural components about it.

I’m just wondering why people wouldn’t celebrate this awesome holiday. Is it because of all the supernatural aspects of it? Is it perhaps the amount of sugary delights that come with it? Or perhaps it’s because of the movie John Carpenter’s Halloween? Were you scared enough to never go out and celebrate it? Interesting.

And for this very reason, I must create a poll. I’d love to hear how many of you celebrate this glorious holiday. Please feel free to leave comments on how you celebrate this great day too!

Spam, the real Spam that is

First of all, this post isn’t about the spam you might get in your mailbox. It’s not about the amount of messages you might get overloaded by playing your favorite online game. I’m talking about the real thing. The Spam in the can and has some Really tasty goodness.

Why is it that people hate spam so much? Ok, so it’s not exactly healthy or it might not be what you think of as good quality food. But when you open it up, fry it up in the frying pan, or bake it, does it Really matter as long as it tastes good? There must be thousands of recipes out there with spam as the main ingredient. You can even find recipes at the official spam site. And for this, I’m going to open up a poll. This will be the end all be all. I’m thinking that most of my friends will not vote for spam. But here’s hoping they change their minds.

What is it about spam you don’t like? Seriously now!

Do you like Spam (the food, not spam the mail)?

Disqus Comments

As you may or may not have noticed, I’ve decided to implement Disqus Comments. I’m Really still on the fence about this. But I wanted it easier for Facebook users to comment on this site. I’m still working on implementing a “login with Facebook” for the entire site, but haven’t gotten to that point yet with this site. I’d like to hear your opinions about Disqus, so I’ve opened an easy poll, just 2 clicks, no commenting required, but if you have any opinions, please express them! You can also login using Twitter as well.

If you smoke, you can't work here

CigarettesHave any of you heard of this? ocB alerted me to this phenomenon. There are apparently companies out there that are screening people for smoking. That’s right. They’re testing to see if they have nicotine in their system. Apparently, they’re concerned their health benefits will go up, and they want to keep the costs low. I’d like to think that they want to provide a clean environment for their workers, and don’t wish to endanger them, but I’m pretty sure (and ocB assures me) it’s because they want to keep the health costs down.

There is also the mentality that a non-smoker will not take as many breaks as a smoker. Then on top of that, they are saying that the mentality of a smoker could be worse than that of a non-smoker. Meaning of course, if the smoker doesn’t get to smoke, they get Really agitated. While I can’t say this never happens to me when I did smoke, I have to admit that when I did smoke, I took a lot more breaks. But I’m not defending the reasoning here. I’m just stating a fact. Are non-smokers more productive than smokers? I doubt it. Non-smokers just find other ways to pass time. That’s my opinion.

What’s your opinion? I personally don’t care either way. I think the reasons might be a bit questionable. It could go either way. So I’m presenting you with a poll! What do you think?

Stupid Sunday

Ok, so it’s Sunday and everything feels off because of the silly Daylights Savings Time thing. And I keep telling myself that even though it’s noon, it’s Really 11am. I’ll be doing that for the next month or so I’m sure.

Blog of the MonthAnyways, I just realized that I’ve been awarded The Blog of the month award from Kailani! How cool is that? I’m not exactly sure what the criteria for awarding this is, but I’ll go ahead and pass this on to the following: KG, Ocb, and Neptunebaby. I <3 them!

Ok, so today, I want to do a poll. It’s how to handle comments and how to reply to them. Here’s the dilemma: should I reply to comments by editing the comment and adding a reply to the end of it, or should I just reply via email? Or do I just comment to reply? Here’s my problem. If I reply by editing the comment, this does not necessarily go back to the person commenting, so they might never see it. If I reply by email, yes, the original commenter sees it. However, no one else does, and well, that doesn’t make it very fun to me. Then finally, if I respond by commenting, then I feel like I’m just commenting to make comments. Yes, I know I’m weird.

So what do you think? Here’s the poll:

New Tagline contest

Ok, so I’ve been thinking, and I’m thinking that it’s just about time to change the look on this site. But more importantly, I’m Really thinking of changing the tagline. I’ve had quite a few taglines over the years…

“New, Improved, faster acting Yoshi, with the power of citrus!”

“Yoshi, the real thing”

“Souls polished, 1 served.”

That’s just to name a few in the recent year. So I’d like to ask people throw suggestions! Anyone have an idea for a tagline? Put it in the comments.

The winner will get something cool. I’m not sure what the prize will be yet. But there will definitely be a lot of linky love and pimping going on. If you have suggestions for a prize, then leave it in the comments too. Let’s keep it somewhat reasonable though. :D

MySpace – is it for kids, or just anyone?

Ryan put on his list about MySpace pretty much as a haven for those under the age of 21. While I agree with this sentiment, I think people are Really losing sight of what MySpace was originally intended to be.

MySpace in the old days was a haven for musicians to display their music. While over the years, it’s changed (a LOT), I still think it’s that same haven, because that’s why I had an account in the first place. To keep up with my friends band.

One thing about MySpace however, is I’ve met a lot of old folks that I would probably never have heard from again, only because they either found me on MySpace or I found them. Granted, there are those people who find me through this site too. MySpace is a social site, just like Orkutz or Facebook, and all the other crazy social sites. It’s popularity is just incredible.

I also use MySpace because of the popularity. It’s one way to get attention. Post a bulletin to your friends and watch how it cascades into a long stream of forwards. When my wife’s co-worker’s daughter was missing, I sent out a bulletin with information for her website, and guess what, we found her, and all because of that bulletin. Amazing how that works.

In many ways, using MySpace is just wrong. I cannot believe the amount of sexual predators on that site. But in other ways, MySpace does good work. It’s a yin-yang thing I think.

What do you think of MySpace? Is it a haven for the underground teenagers? Should adults just refrain from even opening up an account? What’s your opinion?

PB and J Sandwiches

So one day, a long time ago, I was making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My roommate at the time was watching me make with odd enthusiasm.

So I had to ask. “What?”

“You put peanut butter on both sides of the bread.”

“Isn’t that how you normally do that?”

“No, I always put peanut butter on one side, and jelly on the other. You must Really like peanut butter.”

“Oh hell yeah, I love peanut butter. But this way is the right way.”

So I present to you a poll!

Quick Poll

Ok, since it’s brought up, I’ve got to take a poll. Please make sure you vote. Because this is an ongoing argument, I’ll leave the poll open forever.

The argument of course, is exactly how many are there in a few? I say a few is only 3. No more, no less. Anything more than 3 is several.

You be the judge!
