Supernatural : Meet the New Boss

This is a short mini-synopsis/review of the Season 7 premiere of Supernatural. Yes, there are spoilers. This means, if you have not yet seen this episode, you have been warned, and you only get the bump to protect you from not seeing the spoilers.

Like the True Blood post I made earlier, I’ll go ahead and use the bullet method. It seems to be easiest way summarize things. Be warned. There are spoilers below! Don’t continue if you haven’t seen the episode! Spoilers after the bump.

Review: Supernatural – Heart of the Dragon

I’ve been a big Supernatural fan since about season 3. I remember when the show premiered, and I thought it was interesting enough. I never thought it would take off, only because shows like that never do. So I forgot about it. A couple of seasons later, sure enough, Supernatural is doing great and well. If you’re not sure what Supernatural is, here’s a short recap.

Supernatural is about two brothers who have grown up with the tragedy of losing their mother at a young age. Dean was a young kid and Sam was still a baby. It’s not enough that their mom had died when they were young, but their father finds out his wife was killed by a demon. Specifically, a yellow-eyed demon. Supernatural follows the “hunting” adventures of the Winchester brothers as they search for the demon who killed their mother and find their missing father.

The world of Supernatural is exactly the world that I would envision as a classic “urban fantasy” setting. This is a world where monsters exist. Vampires, werewolves, and zombies are only a small part of the world of Supernatural. The Winchesters, in their search for the yellow-eyed demon, end up becoming “hunters”; a small group of people who know what goes bump in the night, find them, and kill them.

That being said, the story of the Heart of the Dragon is about an ancient demon who trapped the soul of a Samurai and made it so his ancestors can call him up from the dead to do their bidding. Saying more about the story would probably reveal spoilers for those who haven’t read the book. Needless to say, after some mysterious deaths, the Winchester brothers are called to investigate. This book stays in the spirit of the TV show. The characters are exactly as they are in the TV show, and you won’t be disappointed. I Really liked the story. I’d recommend it for any fan of Supernatural.

As the author suggests, be sure to listen to some great tunes while reading the book. I personally recommend to at least listen to AC/DC and Blue Oyster Cult myself. There are plenty of songs to listen to, but nothing beats the classic Rock and Roll of the 70′s.

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

I know that you know that I know, right?

mentalistI like to think I’m a pretty good listener. I also like to think I am also very observant. But my skills and observations could never come close to Patrick Jane, The Mentalist. Patrick Jane is not a psychic. He only seems like he is. He sees things we don’t see. He listens to what people say, and based on all his observations, he makes a conclusion. Which is usually right. This show is awesome. I love mysteries just like anyone else. I love to solve them. I love the method that Patrick Jane has for solving crimes. He seems to make light and find the humor in any situation. If you like detective/CSI-type shows, then this one is for you. Just like the ads said about this show, it’s a show I bet even Gil Grissom would enjoy.

As for Gil Grissom, he’s leaving CSI. I’m very saddened about this. I was Really sad when they got rid of Warrick, and I understand the situation. But honestly by getting rid of Gil Grissom… I think it’s jumping the shark. At this point I think I just want the show to end. Make a spinoff of CSI, but don’t get rid of what makes CSI and keep it as is. I understand Lawrence Fishburn is coming in as well. That’s all good and all, but “Morpheus” is not Grissom. I think Fishburne will make the show great, but taking Peterson’s place? I don’t think anyone can ever take his place. He’s got some Really big shoes to fill if that’s the case. But that’s all I’m saying about CSI.

A Song of Ice and Fire to HBO

I just heard some incredible news today! From what I understand, HBO will be showing a new Mini-series based on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. You can find this information right from the horse’s mouth!

If you haven’t read the series, please note that it is definitely not Tolkien, as you might have guessed already. I’m Really excited about this one! I’m very anxious to hear who will be in the cast.

Hell’s Kitchen

So tonight’s show was pretty stressful. It was to me at least. You know, if they don’t get rid of Sara soon, I’m not gonna be able to watch this show. (of course I will, I’ll just get a bit more upset about it.) What kills me is how blind Gordon is to her plots. He even complimented her at the end of the show? Come on Gordon, please tell me you’re just playing along so you can be an ass later and sit her down to shut her up.

As for the elimination, I for one am very glad about it. Keep on reading if you want spoilers, or have already watched the show.
