New books to read

Ok, so I’ve just got done with reading all the Dresden Files and Alera books (well, except Cursor’s Fury – I’m waiting for the paperback). I’ve finished reading most of my “back up” books. To explain, these are the books I’ll read whenever I don’t have books that I *want* to read right away. Which at this time, I only have 2 of now, Wolves of the Calla, and The Fountainhead.

So I’m asking my faithful readers, If you can suggest any books to read. I like almost any type of book. I’m a reader, that’s what I do. I’ve read all genres of books, even Romance. (Yes, it’s odd, but some of them are pretty interesting.) I do have preferences, but it would be interesting to see what people have to recommend. But I really love to read, just ask anyone that knows me. I’ve been known to re-read books over and over again. One book that I’ve read at least 10 times (or series of books) are the Amber Chronicles. I loved those books. Actually now that I’ve said that I might re-read it yet again.

So please folks, recommend me some books! Reading blogs just isn’t enough!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Ok, so you may or may not have been noticing some changes around here. I haven’t been posting much here. I have to admit it’s not due to lack of ideas or stuff to post about, it’s because I’ve been busy with some changes.

In the future, I’ll be converting all my sites back to ExpressionEngine, re-opening my EE-development blog (including a new name! – whoa I’m so copying pMachine!), and finally open up the hello! Network. Finally.

Unfortunately, to get this site up on ExpressionEngine as soon as I can, I don’t think I’ll be taking any archives over, until I get around to creating a Wordpress => ExpressionEngine import module. The wordpress export xml looks pretty straightforward, and I think I shouldn’t have problems making a module to do this, it’ll just take time is all. Which is always the bottleneck, right? Not enough time.

I know that wordpress has an export to Movable Type, but it’s not working for me, and well, there are some errors. I’m not going to try to figure it out. But if someone has an export solution, then by all means, please someone let me know!

Please don’t forget to check out my new site, hello! Food.

EllisLab – New name, same company

For those of you who haven’t been paying attention, while the site was undergoing some major changes yesterday, pMachine suddenly became a new company. EllisLab. The change is appropriate. pMachine is a product, and while back when it was in production it made sense to call the company pMachine, they really do a lot more than that now. Thus was born EllisLab and it’s sister sites: Expression Engine, EngineHosting, and CodeIgniter.

The sites have received a new look as well, courtesy of Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain. I have to say that I really like his design, and he’s definitely a top notch. Congratulations to him for being able to redesign the new look of a great company.

Apparently from the post that Rick mentions in the latest news, all these sites are now running on one installation of ExpressionEngine. This doesn’t really surprise me, since I know Shitty Network is all run all on one installation and my own websites (of which I had about 6) were running on one installation. What surprises me is that Paul made this easy to accomplish by doing something, which may be released in the future. Now, I’m all ready to see how that will work out!

The EllisLab site also hints at other new projects that they are cooking up. Well, I’m pretty curious to know what they are, especially since they come up with some really great products.

What’s in store for EllisLab? Who knows, but I do know one thing. It’ll probably kick ass.

(this is a crosspost from Shitty Blogger)

The obligatory Heroes post

So this post is about the last episode of Heroes which aired last night (3/5).  If you haven’t seen this episode, or you live somewhere where the series just started, you’re approaching spoilers here, and I’m warning you now. And yes, this is the last new episode until the end of April. What a drag. Without further ado, let’s talk about some super humans.

It’s all about the food

I just wanted to let everyone know that due to my love of food, how much I love to talk about it, and how much I love to eat it, I’ve finally gotten around to getting a new site up exclusively about food. hello! Food is a new site that will have various things about food, including recipes, reviews, and just general “I love this food” type posts. There’s not much there at this moment, but bookmark it for the future, and add it to your aggregators, as I’m expecting this site to get busy.

I really wanted to open the site up for a community as well. So if you have a love for food similar to mine, and would like to be a contributor to hello! Food, then by all means, let me know, and we can get all set up for that.

I got me something cool

For those of you who didn’t already know, after talking to Tigger about Corel Draw and other such drawing applications, and Danalyn forcing me to spend money persuading me to spend money convincing me that Wacom Tablets are cool, I went to Best Buy and bought me one.

dsc00366.JPG

I got the 4×5 tablet because it was about $125 cheaper than the 4×6 tablet. The guy helping me was quick to say aside from the 1 inch that it gives you, the software that comes with it is much better and are full versions. “Ah I see. But I have Photoshop and Illustrator. I’m pretty sure I won’t care about the software.” I felt kinda bad, because he just shut up after that. But that’s ok, we’ll never see each other again most likely.

You’ll probably notice from the picture that I’ve actually busted out the mouse for it. Yes, I’m using it right now, but only because my main laser mouse (top left corner) is currently charging. And that mouse on the right side? Well, if you know me, you’ll know that I keep everything. That was the mouse I used before the laser mouse in the top left. Yeah, I’m weird, don’t I know it. There are just some things I can’t let go.

Hmmm

When listening to the song “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard, during the part when Joe sings the lyrics, “From my head … to my feet” do you point to your head and then to your foot?
