So TGIF, right? I’m so happy it’s the end of the work week. But what will happen this weekend? I guess for me, there could be a lot of sleeping going on, but I doubt it. I always try to sleep in, but I end up waking up earlier than I thought I would, only because I felt like I was wasting the day away. Sometimes I wonder why I waste so much time sleeping, when I could be doing something productive, but honestly, even if I was awake, what else would I be doing except wasting time playing with some movie quiz or something on Facebook. Talk about wasting time!
Today though, I had to wonder why people don’t listen. Like today, I went to KFC to get lunch, which is always a 2 piece thigh/drumstick combo. So I ordered a “number 2 with diet pepsi”. Did you just hear me? How could the girl at KFC mistake that for “medium diet pepsi”? How? Let me repeat that. “Number 2 with diet pepsi”. Say it out loud yourself. Does it sound like I just said “Medium diet pepsi”? WTF? So I got to the drive thru window and I told her, I wanted a number 2. (let’s just skip over the fact that it sounded like I needed to go to the bathroom and take a dump for a second.) She nodded like she was saying, “Ohhh, ok, that’s what I thought you said.” Which pissed me off more. Why don’t people listen?
Then there’s this stupid driver. We’re driving through a school zone. The light is flashing, that means kids are bound to be around, since school is letting out. This means you slow down to 20 mph. Nope. This guy is weaving through traffic passing everyone that’s going slow, acting like he couldn’t understand why everyone slowed down all of a sudden. He obviously has no kids and doesn’t care about kids, or he’s a kid himself. Ugh. Where’s a cop when you need one? I know the defense to this one too. “Yeah, but there’s no kids anywhere!” Yeah yeah, but did you know that kids are good at not being seen? You never know when a kid is going to jump out at you. It’s happened before. Fuckers.
So how’s your day?

Have any of you heard of this? ocB alerted me to this phenomenon. There are apparently companies out there that are screening people for smoking. That’s right. They’re testing to see if they have nicotine in their system. Apparently, they’re concerned their health benefits will go up, and they want to keep the costs low. I’d like to think that they want to provide a clean environment for their workers, and don’t wish to endanger them, but I’m pretty sure (and ocB assures me) it’s because they want to keep the health costs down.
There is also the mentality that a non-smoker will not take as many breaks as a smoker. Then on top of that, they are saying that the mentality of a smoker could be worse than that of a non-smoker. Meaning of course, if the smoker doesn’t get to smoke, they get really agitated. While I can’t say this never happens to me when I did smoke, I have to admit that when I did smoke, I took a lot more breaks. But I’m not defending the reasoning here. I’m just stating a fact. Are non-smokers more productive than smokers? I doubt it. Non-smokers just find other ways to pass time. That’s my opinion.
What’s your opinion? I personally don’t care either way. I think the reasons might be a bit questionable. It could go either way. So I’m presenting you with a poll! What do you think?
Is it fair that companies will not hire you because you smoke?

WTF? I know you guys have heard about this: Boyfriend: Phobia caused woman’s 2-year bathroom stay @ CNN.com. I’m trying to make some sense out of all this and I’m just not able to do so. First of all, in order for her skin to grow around that toilet seat, she would have to be sitting there for a while. I mean seriously, that doesn’t happen overnight people.
Second of all, let’s just say what they haven’t said yet: The filthiness of the situation. If she had been sitting there for that long in order for her skin to develop around the toilet seat, how dirty was the toilet bowl? How dirty was she? She couldn’t have taken a bath in ages. I mean seriously!
I understand that people have phobias, certainly I have my own. But I somehow don’t think that even phobias are going to force you to sit on a toilet seat until your skin grows around it. This is so sad, since they’re saying she might have to be in a wheelchair.
I don’t see how the boyfriend could be found at fault except for stupidity and not calling someone earlier. Perhaps like 2 years ago? I’d probably have called someone after 2 weeks at the very most! Very strange, very strange!
